Posted July 9, 200916 yr I recently squeezed a second optima red top in my storage bin and i have a fuse question.I have all 1/0 gauge ran with a 150 amp fuse up front, and i just ordered a new fuse holder for the rear, but i accidentally bought a 300 amp fuse. can i use this or should i get another size fuse?thanks Edited July 9, 200916 yr by BoomBoxB
July 9, 200916 yr 150amp fuse up front.... i think you should be using 250 amp fusing all around.. unless you have some nice wire which is rated for 300amps!!
July 9, 200916 yr Fuse size depends on wire gauge, you fuse to protect the wire.I would use a 300 amp.
July 9, 200916 yr you fuse to protect the wire. Not always. We don't need to get technical, he is wiring batteries together. What I said is true in this case.

You made a blanket statement. It could be interpreted by other viewers of the thread or the OP as " you always fuse for the wire and nothing else," and the next time they need to fuse something that requires otherwise, they end up with a broken piece of equipment.

Your statement can be interpreted a number of ways. I was simply clearing it up for him, or any others who may view this thread in the future. It's all about having the right info all the time.
