Right there ... oh yeah.

Will be running ~ 1000 watts. I'll make the enclosure fairly large - can always take away airspace if need be.

It'll be sealed this time around (no way I'm going to try and figure out a port), question remains ... how big ?

what amp ????? :D

  • Author

Thing is, I'd love to get another Magnum sometime.

So, I could get a 1000 x 1 @ 1ohm now, and get another one later.

Or look for an amp that does 1700-2000 @ 2ohm and run the single Magnum at 4ohm.

Probably just go with a HiFonics BX1000D ... does it's job, and it's cheap.

run it at 1 ohm and try this amp:

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/ULTDD11300S

or a pair of DEI300D's uber cheap on SD also

or this nice Alpine: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=12398

or the Soundstream:

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=12303

or a MTX 6500D, I think I could track some down cheap

How is that sound stream amp... what watts does it put out at one ohm, i can't find any real spec sheets on it

I was thinking more along the lines of:

MTX 81000D

MTX 1501D

RF 1501bd

^Would work good for a pair, if I decided to go with running it at 4ohm for starters.

Orion XTRPRO 1000

HiFonics BX1000D

etc for 1 sub.

Ah well, whatever I can find at the time I guess.

oh I did not understand you were going to run that much power,

but of the ones you listed, I would first and foremost run the Orion!!!!!!!!

then the RF 1500

and the MTX1501

that would slam regardless :boxin: :slayer:

Cool! Be sure to take pics of the fiberglass work that you do.

BTW: My recommendations on those amps are the SS and MTX amplifiers.

In March, you'll have more than enough pictures ...:D

If I can find a good deal on either of the MTX's, I'd go with one of those.

Only thing I'm stuck on is ... should I go with 750 @ 4ohm with room to upgrade or 1000 @ 1ohm right off the bat ... I mean, I probably wont be getting another sub for a while - so I think I'll go with just the 1000 @ 1ohm.

Found out the local marina doesn't sell fiberglass stuff - how retarded is that ?

Hone Depot - ~$25 / gallon

Anywhere else - Any cheaper ...

Any cheaper is good, especially when you need 3-4 gallons EASY.

Check your local auto parts stores for fiberglass resin. Either them, or try Walmart. As far as the fiberglass itself...that's usually really tough to find at a low cost. :(

Steve I will poke around for ya, if I see it cheap I will tell ya ;)

Nick,

You know the little Bondo brand package with some resin, matt, and a little application knife ? Canadian Tire 8 hours from me in Calgary has it for $12 or $14. Here, same store (Canadian Tire), it's $24 ... exact same product :)

A gallon of resin at the local auto parts store is about $55 USD, $70 Canadian. The other 4-5 stores don't even carry it. We have one of the nicest lakes in BC about an hour away, the marina there ... doesn't sell it.

Cloth at Canadian Tire was either $4 or $7 per yard ...

So I can get 2 gallons of resin in the US for $50, which still comes in just under $65 Canadian bucks.

This is why I'm searching my ass off for stores down in Spokane, WA ... about a 2 hour drive - they've got Home Depot, which I'm sure is where I'll end up purchasing 90% of the materials anyways. $25 / gallon vs any cheaper anywhere else, is much better, especially when you easily need 4 gallons :) I think packages of matt are like $5 at Home Depot --- online I've found it 33" wide x 1 yard for $1.60 I think ... I don't know how much you get in the $5 pack, so I can't figure out which would be the better route.

Can't buy resin off of the net ... Hazmat fee and border fee would bring the price right back up again so I wouldn't be saving anything whatsoever.

Sorry for blabbing on,

- Steve :D

Yeah, the $25 a gallon seems more resonable. That's around what they charge here in NC. Fleece it first, then lay the glass and it should turn out great. The kick pannels in the silver Camaro on my web page were done that way and they are flat-out awesome.
