Posted August 23, 200916 yr Just finished an install on my 95 probe. Put a DD 3515 in 3.5 cubic foot (after displacement) box with 2 - 4" aeroports at 17.75". Hooked to a RF 1000a2. Box is a standard CRX design. I've been toying with box placement and right now its sub up port to the side. Sounds decent, but a friend had this exact setup in his 98 Explorer and it was quite a bit better in there. So I'm assuming the problem is related to box design, tuning or placement. Any suggestions??
August 23, 200916 yr This exact set up pulled a 144.3db in my explorer(TL, sealed up, truck off, meter on w/s). Nothing was changed from there to his probe, besides bigger wire and 2 batteries. We played with placement, 10", 8", 6" from the rear. And so far best is sub up, port to the side.Jason , contact DD on Monday, tell them you just acquired a 3515D sub, what car it's going into. They should be able to point you in the right direction for a good box design. Tell them how much room you have to play with in your trunk as well. They might tell you to dump the aero ports, but Mike hit a 154.7 with 2 10" DD and aero ports lol. Before his RCA fell out and blew the shit out of them.Try chopping the port tubes down 3" so the length with flares is roughly 13.87". That should bring it to about 35hz. See if it hits any harder once. Invest in some more 4" tubing cause you'll go through a bit trying to get the right tune. I guess what worked in the explorer might not work in the Probe lol. My explorer loves 30hz.Also join this forum....http://forum.soundpressure.com/There is ALOT of knowledgeable people on there with a good amount of experience with the DD subs. Mazda pharmacy on there knows all, and he's a good guy. Edited August 23, 200916 yr by the_dude
