So I am looking for a new vehicle but I am still wanting to do the console for the 8s. Need a few opinions. I have about 1.3 cu.ft. with room for 1, 2, or 3 of them. I also have 2 amp that I can use.

So power isnt a problem. But my question is 1.3 gross with 2 of the 8s one rear fire the other downfire. Ported or sealed? I have the room for both. If I go sealed I will probly make smaller chambers in the console, ported dont really know with a box that big. I guess that I could just make it smaller or make an internal chamber like the sealed would be. Man am I rambling.

Give me some Ideas I will be picking up the rest of the supplies this weekend.

Justin, if you get a tahoe (96-99) you can fit 2 8's in the center console.

I was actually going to do that but teh burb had to leave

It would heve to be fiverglassed inside but you would not see the subs at all.

Its about 1.0ft^3 in there if you glass it.

If I get a tahoe I am getting the newer model '02-'05

The console that fits in the tahoe fits in my truck ;)

So, I might as well make it hand have it ready for either application.

My thoughts are... Going with the butterworth vented enclosure as shown here.

http://www.soundsplinter.com/rli_series/rl...nformation.html

And making it around .8-1 cube with 30 sq. in. of port tuned to ~35.

I would really like Mike to chime in on this one. Seeing that my enclosure is going to be a little larger then his site shows.

ok, u have 1.3ft^3 gross for a pair of the 8's, correct? ok, that makes about .65ft^3 gross per driver...

so far so good...now u gotta factor in that big ass port, which is what it will be in a box that small...but for arguement sake, let's say it takes up .2ft^3 (it'll be more, i guarantee that), the driver pretty close to .1ft^3, so now u are at .35ft^2 per driver, not accounting for material thickness....

seeing the big picture? if u can somehow make the enclosure/port work, u've got just enough room, give or take a few tenths to make the butterworth work...

and definitely run the 275hcca on the pair...600wrms each..lol..they'll love ya for it!!

but i think u're going to have to redesign ur enclosure just a touch...

are u going behind the seats any? or are u wanting to be able to drop this in the tahoe?

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:
