September 7, 200916 yr Author bump, these look nice, do you think they will still be an upgrade to stock speakers of my alpine HUdont want to amp them yet thats all.
September 7, 200916 yr If my calculations are correct you want to spend around $250 USD. If you were to buy any of those speakers and run them off the h/u they would sound not only like ass but would most likely blow sooner than later. This would hold true to any speaker you run on your head unit. If you run off the high levels like you are doing the signal clips very early (usually around 3/4 volume and if loudness or equalizers are turned on a lot sooner). This clipped signal causes your speakers to sound like ass and break them. If you were to buy an amp this would eliminate this problem. You do not need those expensive speakers even though they are nice. These setups I am about to list to you not only cost the same but would sound A LOT better than if you were to run any speaker of head unit power. If you wanted to stay within your budget you could do something like this:http://www.woofersetc.com/p3949/ZX1502--Kicker-2-Ch-150-Watt-ZX-Series-Amplifier.htmhttp://www.woofersetc.com/p6952/RSD65cs--Phoenix-Gold-65"-Component-Speaker-System.htmOr if you wanted to spend a little more money you could do the same setup my friend is doing:http://www.woofersetc.com/p5207/CLS60A--CDT-Audio-Classic-65"-2Way-Component-Speakers.htmWith the Sundown SAX120.2If that amp is too much this one does work and puts out a little more than rated - http://www.woofersetc.com/p2432/16PR2002--Memphis-280-Watt-2-Channel-Power-Reference-Amplifier.htm
September 7, 200916 yr Author all EQ is flat.just running the sub takes a decent amount of power dont want to put more pressure on and go in to more batts an stuffdont need 200 w RMS speakers just looking for some nice sound quailty stuff that will be louder than standardas you can understand standard are made from recycled toilet paper and have just blown which i expectedfor budget i am aiming for anything up to £150 which should get a nice set. i think the dollar and pound if facked so its pound for dollar atm?thanks!p.s why will they sound dog they just wont get the mighty full power? by a long shot but should out perform stock surly
September 7, 200916 yr Did you not just read what I typed? Buy the first idea I said. The extra 40 amps or w/e will do nothing to you. That is in your budget and will be louder. You need to set your filters as well so those speakers are playing like 80 hz and above. No low frequency bass should run through your mids.
September 7, 200916 yr Author still not sure...my lights dim everything dims on a fast quick note or a high hz spree...im sure running a load more will end up with me coming worse off...ill look into it..but you still think new comps of h/u is considered a down grade?

So i think you need to rethink what you need first. Edited September 7, 200916 yr by sqjeep
September 7, 200916 yr Author exact but it seems to be fine..i dont want to put more pressure on, my speakers are fucked need some to sit in and be more quailty.
September 8, 200916 yr Before you do anything you need to upgrade your electrical system. You think it is fine but your entire car is suffering due to voltage drops. You NEED a new alternator. There is no way around it. You car before you even put in an amp is probably drawing close to that amount. If you ignore this your car will surely suffer. Your amp is straining mightly along with your cars entire electrical system. If I were you I would buy a new alternator and the cheapest pair of replacement speakers for the time being.

September 8, 200916 yr Another battery would be nice but it is really not needed for what he has. That 1000 watt sundown will only be drawing 50 amps max most of the time. The kicker has a 25 amp fuse rating so it will be drawing no more than 15 amps most of the time. Just get an alternator upgrade and see how that goes. A 150 amp will be more than enough and should not cost you that much.
