Posted September 12, 200916 yr I have a Soundstream Reference 500sx rated at 500 watts in 1ohm & 2ohm, is there a difference in sound quality in the different load and what about subs, does it make a difference in sound quality if you have a dual 1ohm or a dual 4ohm sub wired at 2ohm load are there any differences in sound quality.
September 12, 200916 yr No there wont be any noticeable difference (i don't think) if there is it would inaudible, the amp may run a litle warmer at 1 ohm, but that makes sense it would be pushing more power because of lower resistance. if it does run to warm for your comfort get a 12volt dc fan on it and you'll be ok --Julian
September 12, 200916 yr You double THD when you go to a lower ohm load. So if you can run it at a higher ohm load.
September 12, 200916 yr but sense it is such a low frequency you shouldn't be able to hear it. i'd worry about THD with things like highs/mids.
