September 26, 200915 yr Author Alright and when your measuring the internal volume you take the width*height*depth and subtract the total volume of the port right? So if I have a box 14*14*22 for internal dimensions and a port 2.5in wide, and 14in tall, and 26in long(35hz), I would do the volume calculation and subtract the port volume from overall box volume correct?

Ill be running maybe 1900Wrms or a lil more to each.. with 1in MDF and Ill screw it all together and use the sealant around the seams and stuff..And thanks a lot for the help, very useful

I would use a quality wood glue like Titebond and clamps when attaching your panels. Don't over do it on the screws.

September 26, 200915 yr Depending on your box size it can vary, I like to stay 2" away from the edges to prevent the MDF from splitting (Pre drill) then anywhere from 6-8" apart from there.

Use the clamps and a lil more glue in the corners? And sounds like a fool proof plan to me.

October 2, 200915 yr You could try this out..... It runs in Excel, fairly accurate, I built my box by it, 4.2 cu ft. after displacements, tuned to 32hz... initial tests show it works good, the box is sounding great and the cut sheets were right on....Excel based Box Calculator
