Posted October 4, 200915 yr im looking for a new radar detector its between the escort 9500ix and the v1 can anyone help me with this?
October 4, 200915 yr let talk more about features and budget?or are you looking for an A or B vote type deal?
October 4, 200915 yr Author the budget dont matter one is 400 one is 500 which ever i decide is what im gonna pay lol. i guess im looking for more input about each why u like urs or dont like yours if one would be better than the other i think im leaning towards the escort do to more city driving and the v1 being so sensitive in the city
October 7, 200915 yr I have the 8500 x50 and have a lot of experience with the V1. In my experience the V1 has much better range then the 8500 and is a great detector. It also have the arrows and displays the number of signals it is picking up. The bad things are that it doesn't have a mute feature like the 8500. This is bad in the city because you can't turn off the volume on false alarms. You have to turn down the overall volume which can be annoying. The V1 also has a lot more false alerts then the 8500 because of it's better range. For city driving I would think the 9500 would be better. It is suppose to learn of false alarms and not go off on them. The V1 is going to have a lot of false alarms which will get annoying for city use. I have not used the 9500 so I'm just pointing out what I know. I would choose the V1 for most applications but the 9500 may be better if you only drive in the city.
October 8, 200915 yr Author i do drive in the city mostly does anyone know if the 9500 still does well on the highway ive heard different things i think im leaning towards the 9500 right now
October 8, 200915 yr i do drive in the city mostly does anyone know if the 9500 still does well on the highway ive heard different things i think im leaning towards the 9500 right nowI've seen some tests with the 9500 and the V1 and they have close ranges on the highway. My 8500 has never had a problem on the highway and the 9500 is suppose to be slightly better then that. Maybe someone out there has the 9500 and can tell you more about it....
October 13, 200915 yr i love writing citations to those with high end detectors, lol....not saying they don't work, but i've written just as many with detectors as compared to those without.that said...is rocky mountain radar still in business? it's phantoms and phazers, IIRC were what they were called, are passive jammers, which means they aren't illegal. i'll have to google and see. should be a better option then just a detector.btw, no experience with the above two mentioned detectors other then writing those who have had them. (the one with the arrows anyway.)wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
October 13, 200915 yr whats wrong with the $50 ones?they seem to detect comps around my area :X...but it doesn't detect them when their cars are off...
October 13, 200915 yr Author the ones im looking at have special things like speed cameras longer range different stuff look it up ull see why
October 13, 200915 yr whats wrong with the $50 ones?they seem to detect comps around my area :X...but it doesn't detect them when their cars are off...You get what you pay for, thats what is wrong with the $50 detectors (I personally think they are a waste of money, I use my eyes to notice cops and if its to late than thats what I get for speeding and getting caught).
October 19, 200915 yr got a guy with an escort, one with big red arrows, today! 87 in a 65, lol....even called out his detector. he laughed, said it was outdated. could be, but then again, if it isn't on until i hit your car, it doesn't matter how much you paid for that detector, you ain't picking up my radar. and if i have the LIDAR gun? forget about it. i've hit cars at a 1/4 mile away and locked them in. just an opinion...from the thin blue side.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I have a V1 and it's saved me countless times. I got pulled over once and the cop said i was speeding but he didn't even radar me. He was just checkin my stickers. I took mine off the windshield the second i saw the lights. Idk why they left their's up.Edit: I vote V1. I love mine and have never had any problems with it. Edited October 20, 200915 yr by -Jason-
