October 6, 200915 yr Author not enough info....see your other thread mids will be mounted in the doors in custom pods.I have no idea about the tweeters...what is that column called thats between the door and the front window shield?would it be wise to mount tweeters on that, facing toward the window?I have no idea what I'm looking for in tweeters, just recommend me something that'll be very loud and clear, and will not fatigue my ears over long periods listening at high volumes. You know I like punk pop rock

What is your budget? Have you went to madisound.com or parts-express.com and even looked for some so we can give you feedback? What type of tweeter dome designs do you like?

What type of tweeter dome designs do you like?I have no idea what kind of tweeters I like, I'm just going to go ahead and guess soft dome (silk), because I see a lot of people like them. And I was thinking ddt28's for $40 but m5 says no way, so what do you think would be a nice pair of tweets?I'm looking to spend about $100 for the pair, used if possible. Less $ is better but $100 is the max, whatever gives the best bang for the buck under $100probably going to be powered by an SAX 100.4 Edited October 6, 200915 yr by socialstealth
October 6, 200915 yr First of all dont buy something because everyone else has them and likes them, go to a local car audio shop and listen to their different types of tweeters or check out the websites I mentioned above and SEARCH and the ones that fit your budget and taht you like bring back to this forum. Listen to lithium he makes a good point on using a bigger sized speaker for the upper frequency range, stop trying to get this done all in one nite it wont happen (just take your time and do some research man, stop asking every few seconds what about this one and that one).

I have a lvl 4 dc sub in a ported box tuned to 32.5 hz in my trunk powered by a sundown SAE1200I like to listen to loud music. Thats all the systems for, my own (and my passenger's) listening pleasure while I drive. The only other speakers I've heard are coaxils (JL audio evolution vr690cxi, and infinity reference 6822cf).No audio stores near me...I can't decide on a 3 way or 2 way front stage. I plan to have it active with a sundown sax100.4 (or 50.4) and, if its a 3 way, I may use my ea eclipse bridged for the midbass driver.I plan to remake my entire interior, which includes remolding the dash and doors out of fiberglass, so size isn't much of an issue. Can you point me in the right direction for a tweeter? something pretty 'popular' thats good that I might be able to find used somewhere.I plan to do this whole thing in steps to achieve a full system in a few months, I'm not going to buy everything tomorrow, so if I need to spend more, i'll have to wait longer till I get more money. If I can spend less, then I can get this done faster and be happier I'll stop highjacking threads and start looking around for things, sorry about that!
October 6, 200915 yr for a first active system do a 2 way. first optionmidbass - 8" or bigger, dedicated midbass (means it plays not much higher then ~300hz at max)now your required to find something that plays from 250-20k hzso now you need a full range 2 or 3 inch.----------------------------another optionusual 2 way6.5 or 7 inch mid and a tweeter. (i haven't seen an 8 play up high enough, and beaming would be an issue) i can plug ssa and mach 5 here and mention the mli 6.5 and match it with a seas tweeter.
October 6, 200915 yr The CA22 can mate nice with a full size tweet. For a generic recommendation, I really like the price point and performance of the Peerless HDS.I also think however that for your goals an 8" midbass and a 3-4" full range would be best; however, you are going to want to get the 3"'er on axis as much as possible. If you can't then I'd stick with the tweet mid and the above combo could work nicely.

Not a problem, I can make them right next to eachother in the podsI'll go for the 3 way, seeing as it seems to fit my style.the processing unit I mentioned before, the x6, will it support an active 3 way front stage? I'm not sure what crossover options it has (this way i'd be able to use cheaper amps that don't have crossovers)
October 6, 200915 yr The 8" sub/midbass and 3" fullrange is still a 2 way. Comment wasn't to mount them as close as possible to each other, but as on axis.
