Posted October 22, 200915 yr Which is better to run my p3 dual 4 ohm sub? With my rockford fosgate t400-4 I can wire my sub 2 or 8 ohm, Which would be better?
October 22, 200915 yr You would take advantage of the amps power output much better by reducing the load to 2 ohms.
October 22, 200915 yr Is that amp just for the sub or are you running components also.If it is just for the sub I would bridge channels 1&2 to one voice coil and 3&4 to the other voice coil. That is the way you would get the most output of that amp with that sub.
October 22, 200915 yr You won't be able to wire the voice coils in parallel for a 2 ohm load and then bridge the amplifier. It's not stable at 2 ohms bridged. So if you don't bridge each pair of channels to one voice coil each like bromo said, you can either wire one voice coil to one channel or bridge the amp and wire the voice coils in series for 8 ohms. Either of those last two ways is not ideal for maximum power output. And really to do that sub the most justice you need to just get a dedicated mono sub amp that puts out good power at 2 ohms.
