so i have a us amps md1d amp hooked to a ten inch re audio sx. i had it wired to one ohm and a guy that i was talking to said i was probably pushing closer to 1400 watts instead of 1200 watts at 14 volts. is this true?

Nobody really knows, if he did a bench test or had clamp meters with a TRUE RMS feature on them then yeah he is right.

Oh yeah any good amp does more than rated power.......and if its rated at 1200, 1400 is more than likely closer to the truth. A friend of mine just bought a rockford 2500bd Rated at 2500watts. and the thing came out of the box with a birth sheet of 3098 watts!!!!! thats 598 watts more than rated power!!!!!!!

Get you two True RMS Clamp Meters and thats how you truly test an amps out capabilities or what you are doing at that moment and time.
