4 years ago or so I got a SWEET deal on 6 Optima Red Tops. I can't find the guy and I don't remember what company he's from. Ring any bells for anyone?

Anyway most people don't run Optima, why not? I'm assuming because more hours of sotrage can be had for less? I like the idea of dry/gel cells so that I can mount them any way I want inside the vehicle and no hydrogen gas released from charging.

Anyone know if this guy is still around? What other options should I consider?

Thanks!

Krypto

I really liked the red top I had in my old vehicle. That's all I got.

i loved my red tops too. they're small, only "down side" I can see to them assuming less hours of storage. not many seem to run them. why not?

Probably has to do with where you're looking. People don't buy red tops for competition stereo systems. It was designed as a starter battery, and most people on these forums that are looking at a new battery want the biggest one they can put in. Plus I doubt that Optima has a forum anywhere, unlike other manufacturers, such as the one on here. You're going to hear the most about the products being supported on that particular site.

It depends what you are trying to do with the batteries, what are you gonna need them for? Try taking a look at Deka Intimidator Batteries.

no burping, but a lotta draw daily.... 4 21" maelstrom-X's off either 4 BXi2608Ds or 4 AP3500's or something. HO alt maybe in addition to the stock if I can make a bracket. 4 6.5's off a ZX850.5, 2 4" off a 350.4, 2 1" off a 200.2..... 850.4 has significvant current draw by itself.

That HO Alternator is going to be a must and not a maybe if you plan on having all those amps in your car buddy.

\that reads I am getting a HO alt, but, I hope I can add it in addition to my stock alt, cuz yeah, heavy load for just 1 HO alt. I plan on removing the entire AC system and mounting the HO alt where the AC compressor is.

OK, so I am overwhelmingly hearing "get deka" so what is the best for the price, not best for top dollar. I see MK and Intimidator....

The only ones I have heard about are the Deka Intimidators
