Posted November 30, 200915 yr After doing a little reaserch and a unexpected blow to my savings, I think that I am going to go with a set of Alpine type-R components in my mercury sable. a store i went to was askin 250 for the set not including install or anything, I found them online for about 150, and i can do the install myself. my question is,"are these speakers good enough to run a front stage setup?" I would rather not have any rear speakers in the back deck, alowing my subs to breath into the cabin, but im not sure if the alpine components,(powered about 60 watts RMS into each,) can hold thier own... any thoughts?

Go to different car audio shops and listen to speakers, thats the best way to find out what will suit your needs or get the job done (since everyones music preference and speaker output preference is not the same).
November 30, 200915 yr Author sorry i think i worded that wrong. in my price range and out of the ones i have listened to, i like the sound of the type-r's the best, but will they sound as full by themselves, without any rear speakers? (where i listened to them had both front and rear speakeers going in there sound booth thing)
November 30, 200915 yr Like I said it depends on your personal preference or if you want a true front stage like most people on this website (SQ guys). If you want an accurate front stage and like how concerts sound to you, all the sound coming from the front of you then only do a front stage. Im one of these individuals who tested the sound only in the front and then with it in the front and back, I did like just the one set up front but Im more of a surround type of guy. I like how it is in the club or movies, where the sound is all around you and thats what I want so I put me some speakers in my rear door but took out the ones for my rear deck to allow more bass into the cabin from the trunk. So like I say its up to you but most will tell you to ditch the rear fill, thats why I say it is personal preference. Just my .02
December 1, 200915 yr The type r will do the job, for sure.If you have any monster sub(s) in your car, they may be just a little weak.Make sure you use an amplifier on these speakers. You don't have to buy a high end amp, a 2 x 80 watts amp should be enough. You must work on your doors : deadening, sealing holes, ...
