Hi-

This is for a daily driver, listening to all types of music. Amp will be a Sundown 3500D.

I'm trying to decide on my new setup. I'm kind of on the fence between a Death Penalty or an SSA Xcon 15". My main concern is the flatness of the frequency response on the DP. Is it comparable to the Xcon? From what I've read the Xcon has a very flat frequency response, which is why I am considering it. I've been dreaming of getting DP's for a while now, but I may have to get Xcon's if they would sound better for music.

Please let me know,

Thanks all.

Why the 3500? Are you going to get the dual 1 model of either sub and run it at 2 ohms or are you getting more than one sub? Just seemed excessive for a daily driver...

Well I was planning on getting 2 btw I meant to mention that. I figured the 3500D would be a good match for two of either of the subs, but I'm open to get something smaller if it's recommended. What tuning did you choose on your DP's? I was thinking probably like 32 hz for either setup.

32 Hz...right from info

I completely forgot I had that there lol. I figured when I took it all out that part would magically disappear from my sig. Don't even have any midbass in my car now. :(

Well... From what I hear, if SQ is a bigger goal than volume, go with the XCONs, although they will still be brutally loud... I am unsure if the DPs would be louder, but they are pretty crazy spl drivers...

Ah, sorry I didn't notice that, I totally forgot to look there. Thanks for the advice, I am leaning towards the XCON's now. It's so hard to choose when I can't hear a direct comparison lol.

The box will be the deciding factor. Steve Cook does very well in the meca sound quality league with 2 death penalty 18s in his avalanche. Just my two cents.

Good call... x2 definitely

However, if they are both in properly constructed enclosures, my vote would still go to the xcon
