Posted June 29, 200520 yr What are your opinions on this sub? in my case, it is $48 cheaper than a RL-p (both being 15s). idk if im down with the 1000w rms though. do you folks think they will hit pretty much the same dbs in general, just one will sound nicer than the other?
June 29, 200520 yr I was just at a show in Denver on Sat and watched a CRX with 4 12" SX's walk away loudest in his class at 156.7 and 157.4 in consecutive runs. I have the RL-p (12") and would say they are very comparable with the RL-p sounding a little more musical. The SX's are some sexy beasts though, and $50 is $50, just depends on what you are ultimately seeking, SPL or LSQ.
June 29, 200520 yr idk man my sx's are loud and accurate, and thier 18's So i'm gonna say SQL YOu cant go wrong either way
June 29, 200520 yr Heard both...owned both before...They are both EXCELLENT LSQ drivers...with the Rl-p having a slight edge in SQ...and the SX having a slight edge in SPL. Daily, you MIGHT notice a little more output from the SX...and on the Sensor...the SX will shine. NG
June 29, 200520 yr If the SX is anything like the SE it doesnt have very good SQ IMOBut as we all know, SQ is oppionated.
June 30, 200520 yr do kick yourself in th nuts Supa.... SE's are very acurate..havent owned one but ive heard a good handful
June 30, 200520 yr Not as acurate as i would like.Shiva> SE in SQShiva > 12o in SQ12o> SE in SQAll in reccomended enclosures.Any sub can get loud, but it takes something special for it to do that and sound good
July 1, 200520 yr Author skmfkr: since im in hawaii, the shipping for an RL-p15 is $79, making the total for 1 driver $338, i called RE for the SX and they quoted me $290 shipped. (im talking about the 15s, but the 12" were $20 less).this is quite a hard decision. I want the LSQ..while saving money =P.well - heres what the setup would be if i were to get either of them:--- RL-p15 w/ MTX801D--- SX15 w/ Hifonics 1500wstill thinking which one.....
July 1, 200520 yr imo, from what i've heard, the RL-p will be much more of a lowend monster than the SXps, are you looking for a BX1500D?
July 1, 200520 yr ^^^ I think your talkin about the xxx's.The sx has plenty low end.Dont know if it more than the RL though. Its fun making peoples descisons difficult...But IMO, you won't be disspointed either way.
July 1, 200520 yr no no, i know what im talking aboutwhen i had my SX, it had lowend, it just wasnt uber amazing or anythingand from everyones reviews of the RL-p, it seems like it just has kick ass lowend
July 1, 200520 yr yeah, two 18's sealed would be a low end monster..lol...this is a hard one....both are extremely well liked subs and have proven themselves to the majority. i think, like everyone else has pretty much posted, it should be decided by the ultimate application. if ur after pretty damn loud with good sq, the sx would be the better choice.if ur after awesome sq that just happens to have the ability to get pretty damn loud, get the rl-p.either way, i'd power the sub with around 1200wrms. be it the SS or the RE....the mtx801d is a fine amp, but i think pushing a bit more into the rl-p would be fine.here's something i would consider...and i'm not necessarly dogging RE's customer service, but mike and SS has yet to get a complaint about his cs, while RE has had quite a few, and yes, most have been about not answering emails. but i also know mike doesn't get defensive if his product is dogged, he just tries to find out why and then tries to make it right. from experience, i know RE isn't quite that nice..lol...wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
July 11, 200520 yr hmm hopefully i won't regret my purchase of a SX 15...although i only payed 190 for it slightly used...i might invest in an RL-p 15 later possibly though..
July 11, 200520 yr hmm hopefully i won't regret my purchase of a SX 15...although i only payed 190 for it slightly used...i might invest in an RL-p 15 later possibly though..i don't think u will...just make sure of ur enclosure and u should be jsut fine..especially for that pricewheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
July 12, 200520 yr i had a SX 12 off a viper 1200.1 it was crazy for a single 12, it sounded pretty good, it deff wasnt bad , but it got crazy loud, + it looks better IMOnever used a RL-p so no comment, but SXs wang
