Posted July 1, 200520 yr I got a SS 12" RL-p and found a ported box design (from aneonrider) and want to try building it, but i'm having some trouble understanding it. Here is the cut sheetCut Sheet 32.000 x 13.750 Top32.000 x 13.750 Bottom15.000 x 13.750 Sides28.500 x 15.000 Front30.500 x 15.000 Back11.000 x 15.000 Port 125.000 x 15.000 Port 23.500 x 15.000 Port 3I tried drawing it out but i don't understand the ports and spacing, can someone explain it to me? also what is port displacement?The box is suppose to be 2'^3 tuned to 28hzPort Displacement 0.226 Length 10.460 Length 20.095 Length 30.257 Wood1.038 TotalThanks for viewing and much more thanks for helping
July 1, 200520 yr cut it out in woodport displacement is how much enclosure volume the port occupies.Its not part of the enclosure really
July 1, 200520 yr i'm sure he wouldnt give you bunk patterns.I'm guessing its a slot port.So basiclly wherever the front stops at, that extra space left is gonna be the port length.like----------- |.front...port-------|.....|if that makes since
July 1, 200520 yr Author yeah, but I'm confused on the ports, this is all i can come up with but it does not look right....its not ported
July 1, 200520 yr http://img211.imageshack.us/my.php?image=samp3rb5we.jpgits not letting me post the pic, but oh well...I get the rest of it, i just dont get wher the 3.5 is coming fromsince 30-28.5=1.5...but the inside is most likely correct, that 25in piece doesnt go all teh way to the wall, since it is 28.5...OHHHHH, ok, 28.5-25=3.5So, yea, that is correct, i think i dont see why the port is inside of the box though...
July 1, 200520 yr Author i'm going to just try it out, o well if it doesn't work; then i'll just pay someone for a design, either that or go visit powered4sound and buy one of their boxs if i come up with the extra money. Thanks
July 1, 200520 yr its actually ported...Just diffrent from what i've seen..Basiclly its two openings, 1 on the inside thats the 3.5 opening and the other is on the front wt the 1.5 opening.
July 1, 200520 yr just build a sealed box @ 1.25'^ simple build great results guarenteed-you will get your 28 hz easy.
July 1, 200520 yr ok...the overall box length is 32", not 30"the external box size is going to be 32"l x 15"t x 15"d..SO...ur cut sheet will ACTUALLY be...top, bottom....32" x 13.5" (not 13.75")sides.....15" x 13.5" (not 13.75")front....27" x 15" (not 28.5")back....30.5" x 15"so ur port is going to be 3.5"w x 13.5"t x but that design is whacked somehow...with that much port area..u need like 70"+ of port...build this box....top,bottom.....30.5" x 15"sides....13.5" x 15"front......27" x 13.5"back......29" x 13.5"ur port will be 2"w x 13.5"t x 41.125"l....first port wall.....13.5" x 11.5"second port wall.....13.5" x 24.25"" tada.....2ft^3 tuned to 28hz...port layout-----> wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
July 1, 200520 yr Where did you find this design?lol...it's whacked, ain't it?! surely, it can't be one of urs unless somehow numbers got screwed up...wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

July 2, 200520 yr lol, I have no idea what post... and it probably was a bunked design that I used as an example if it was as messed as it is, I don't post designs that are perfect, kind of a kick in the nuts to any sort of side-business I do
July 3, 200520 yr Author sure thing...http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...wtopic=2679&hl=I went to home depot and bought wood. (they didn't make the cut to 13.5 it was a lil short) oh well i don't expect this box to be perfect, like you guys said, box design is a busines so i hope this would be somewhat of a typical 2'^3 tuned to 28hz box that's generic. But thanks so much for all the help. and now i go building.
July 3, 200520 yr It has 2 bends... therefore three different port walls. One for the left side, one for the back, and one for the right side, with the entrance to the port on the right side.
