Posted January 27, 201015 yr I have my 15" Fi Q sitting in my house just lying around and was going to put it to good use until someone buys it. If i've read correctly then i need a power supply, an amp (sold the sundown that was with it), and some RCA's?For the power supply i was going to try this... Newegg.com - Sunbeam PSU-BKS580-US 580W ATX Power Supply - Power SuppliesFor the amp i was just going to get some crappy lil amp sorta like this Hitron HPA2000.1D (hpa20001d) Mono Subwoofer Amps Car Amplifiers Car Audio Car Audio, Video, & GPS Navigation - Sonic Electronix that will be enough to make the sub go but doenst have to be too nice like my car amp because im low on cash and this whole plan is just to f*** around, its not to be the best system ever and i wont be using it too often...So I am just wondering if this would work and plug into my A/V Reciever (pioneer sx217)thanks.

January 27, 201015 yr An actual home amplifier like the one Impious linked to would be a lot easier. Plus I'm not sure I'd trust a $20 power supply for that much power.
January 27, 201015 yr 12V car battery, trickle charger. You get the correct amperage without the headaches. Fuse it like you would in a car, and run your rca's to the amp. Been doing it for 3 months here at college, works like a charm.

Terrible idea unless burning up your amplifier sounds like fun.Really, buy a HOME amplifier for home. 110v amps are way more suited to run on 110v than a 12v DC amp...imagine that.
January 27, 201015 yr I was gonna get a FI Q 18" for the house and I was gonna look at this amplifier:Parts-Express.com:

January 27, 201015 yr As loud as it could - NoAll that you need - It dependsA power supply and car amp will NOT make it louder, but you could surely buy a larger plate amp, rack amp, or pro audio amplifier. DO NOT use a car amp in your house. The Power Supply that you need will cost you more than the amp....As for the all that you need, that depends on what you tune your box to and what source you use. You could also need a SSF or HP of some sort depending on your goals.
January 27, 201015 yr If You Use A Rack Amp Or A Pro Audio Amp It Will Be Wayyy Loud As you like!Trust me
January 27, 201015 yr Author If You Use A Rack Amp Or A Pro Audio Amp It Will Be Wayyy Loud As you like!Trust meso kent, youre saying somehting like this => http://www.fadfusion.com/selection.php?product_item_number=20023301121 except i dont need that much power, but that sort of thing?
January 27, 201015 yr That would be a rack amp. Piece of junk, but the idea is at least on the right style of amp.

January 28, 201015 yr I recommended the Dayton just because it was cheap and would get you by until the sub sold. I didn't think you'd want to spend $400 on a decent high powered home amp that would power the Q to it's full potential.

January 29, 201015 yr yo man i've been running cpu power supplys to run amps and subs in my room for years and never had a problem or fried anything. its simple but just a home stereo reciever or a surround sound reciever works great too.hell at the moment i have 2 shitty 10's 1 hooked to my surround sound and the other ran off of a fosgate amp & a cpu p. supply. the amp rcas run to aux output and the aux in ran to my laptop.

Whether or not the difference is worth the price is up to you. If it were me using it on a temporary basis a 3db increase in output would not be worth double the price.
