Posted January 27, 201015 yr I am currently running a memphis 16-st1000d amp. My question is: If I were to get 2 D2 ohm subs and wire them to 1 ohm on this amp, would it hold up ok? I've read that it has a 1100 watt output on 14v @ 1 ohm. I'm not sure the effenciency or anything though. I've done a little research but havnt found a whole lot. Here's probably the best post I could find:Memphis Car Audio 16-ST1000D Edited January 27, 201015 yr by Shag
January 27, 201015 yr Author Just noticed that I accedently posted this topic under the Subwoofers/Speakers section... Any mods that can move this to Amplifiers section by chance?

It seems like it will do well considering you can wire 2 D2 subwoofers to 1 ohm, they can only be wired to a 0.5, 2 and 8 ohm final load:

But I will probably only be running one of these for a while.. So that's really why I was concerned about the "holding up" deal. But I did a little more search in class and it looks like the amp will do fine at 1 ohm. But thanks for the wiring chart..
January 27, 201015 yr u cant wire 2 dual 2 subs to 1 ohm. u can only wire to .5 ohms and 2 ohms. 1 ohm is not an option.
January 27, 201015 yr u cant wire 2 dual 2 subs to 1 ohm. u can only wire to .5 ohms and 2 ohms. 1 ohm is not an option.I already stated that to him. OP yeah your amp will be fine since it is 1 ohm stable, just wire the D2 in parallel for a 1 ohm final load:
January 27, 201015 yr What subs ? If it is some 500W, why not D1 or D4 for 2 ohm load. Then after some time, you get another one and wire it to 1 ohm?

January 27, 201015 yr You can ask the man himself. Email are free you know. He will know if D4 will be on stock or will he be able to build one for you.Or maybe in the future someone can sell his. Edited January 27, 201015 yr by The enD

And I doubt he feels like holding an extra one for a couple weeks just for me ya know? And I could try to buy one used from someone else, but getting one shipped to my house for the 200$ that he is offering isn't likely to be found. Ya know?
January 27, 201015 yr I used to have that amp. Decent amp, though won't do any more than rated. At any rate, I wouldn't run it below one ohm with two D2 subs. My suggestion, if you really want those subs, is to either wait until you have enough dough for 2 of the D4 coiled subs at the same time so that you know you get two, or be prepared to sell your amp for something 2 ohm stable when you get D2 subs.
