Posted February 18, 201015 yr i am planning on getting a 12" 2ohm dvc lethal injection and the buy is claiming that wired in paralell it will run at 1 ohm and be able to handle 1000watts rms. is this true?
February 18, 201015 yr What do you mean by the Buy? the seller? If you want an IA sub to handle 1000RMS then why not get the Death Row? And it depends on what voice coil option the sub is.The sub may be able to handle 1000rms, but it is only rated at 600rms so if you want to run it at 1000 that is up to you. Like I said why not just get a Death Row?
February 18, 201015 yr Stick to manufacturer's recommendation of 600 and you'll never have a problem.
February 18, 201015 yr Stick to manufacturer's recommendation of 600 and you'll never have a problem.x2, if you want to get something to throw a 1000 rms at then get a sub that is recommended to handle a 1000 rms at the least. People nowadays give horrible advice since they dont share any other information with you on why it was able too or could be able to handle 1000rms. Does it need it no, could it probably handle it (yeah under certain conditions) but it depends on a lot of factors.

February 18, 201015 yr Author well i just talked to IA on the phone and informed me they don't make a sub with a duel 2ohm LI sub. and the highest he would ever power it would be 800rms.
February 18, 201015 yr Dont get us wrong can you throw a bigger amp than what it is recommended at a sub yes but you will have to worry about: mechanical issues, thermal issues, gain settings, use and control of the volume knob wisely, is the box designed to let the sub handle insane amount of watts*, your listening habits, your goals. It is nothing wrong with having some headroom on your amplifier since music is dynamic and it will help avoid clipping (pushing the amp past its limits) if used properly.
February 18, 201015 yr As KU40 stated above go with the manufacturer specs. The LI is a great woofer but if you want a sub to handle more power look at going to the DR series.
