Posted February 28, 201015 yr My 12 " Qs sounded bad since i bought them a few weeks ago (used) so today i figured i would build a new ported box for just 1 instead of having both in a sealed box. This is what i found when i took the woofer out.Looks like the motor wants off the basket pretty bad!!!!!

February 28, 201015 yr Would this type of thing be covered under warrenty? these were purchsed new sept, 8 2009. only 6 months old. maybe a defective magnet? Is there plenty of clearance behind it in the box?Looks like it was dropped. You said you bought it used. . .were they shipped to you? Could have been shipping damage that you did not see until the sub was used causing it to come apart.I am sure Scott will be fair in getting it fixed for you.Email them the pic with your contact info. sales @ ficaraudio.comBrian
February 28, 201015 yr It was dropped. Sucks that you didn't inspect it upon purchase, sounds like you got ripped off.
February 28, 201015 yr Author I did buy them used but i checked them over pretty good before i installed them. the dude i bought them from took care when shipping and sent them in theoriginal boxes from fi.
March 1, 201015 yr I dont know how you could not notice that if it had happened during shipping. He said he inspected the driver prior to installing.
March 1, 201015 yr Could it have been just a hairline crack at the time that maybe you just missed? I'm just saying, there's no way for this to happen without them being dropped.
March 1, 201015 yr Author But it didnt sound like total shit untill yesterday when the thing seized up. before it just wasnt loud as i expected it to be.
March 1, 201015 yr The vibrations through the sub from playing will loosen and widen the crack and eventually make things worse and more out of alignment.
March 10, 201015 yr Author Is thie even repairable? or worth repairing? ups approved the claim and is sending the Q back to me. is it worth fixing?
March 11, 201015 yr Doubt it. . .The cost to ship it back to Fi will more than likely offset the cost of any reusable parts. Email Nick and ask him if they can reuse any of the old parts to build you a new one, otherwise, if UPS covered it, just buy a new one.
