Posted March 14, 201015 yr Fi BTL 15 inches VS RE XXX 15 inchesHere is a simulation in winisd...Which clear shows XXX will be louder...Box specs...5 Cu.ft with a port of 48 sq in and 20 inch length.
March 14, 201015 yr Admin WinISD is nice as a tool to get a general idea, but does not represent real world. Result is heavily dependent on the install, and there is no way to know for certain until tested.
March 14, 201015 yr x2, if you change the box, it may be the other way around. just have to pick one and test with different boxes to get max, output
March 15, 201015 yr Modeling it also suggests you seal the BTL. Which is NOT what it's designed for. With an EBP of 157, I don't know any program worth using that would suggest a sealed enclosure. If there is a program that suggests sealed w/ a Qts of .2 and an Fs of 34hz....stop using that program.

March 15, 201015 yr The reason you only have guesses is that in such situations simulations will only take you so far. Also having them in the same box is not a good idea. Very different specs means very different enclosures. Finding somebody who tested both is one thing you can do. Or listening to both. Up to this point I managed to get a single btl 12 as efficient as an old xxx 18 (which reached the limit, couldn't find ways to increase the efficiency).
