Posted July 17, 200520 yr Well, since there is a forum here now, I guess I'll be the first to post an actual question What's the efficieny like on the Miniliths? At both 2ohm and 1ohm?
July 18, 200520 yr Squeak, I don't know if you've seen it or not, but there are technical links to the current draw of the amps with both musical and sine waves and voltages. They also list the size, so I would think you could use that to come to some form of conclusion on your own.
July 18, 200520 yr Author Yes, but it doesn't say at what voltage the current consumption was measured at, what the output power was ("Continuous Output" or "Typical Continuous Output"), and it only lists current consumption @ 4ohm, whereas I'm more worried about efficiency at 2ohm and 1ohm.Vary a few things, and you come up with anywhere from >90% to <70% @ 4ohm.

All measurements on our amplifiers are done at 12v. The efficiency of a class D amplifier as all other amplifiers (Class A, B and Class A/B varies depending on the output power. All these companies who say "our class D is XX% efficient do NOT specify at what level and what load impedance.I only specified the current draw with 4 ohm loads. This computes to 83% efficiency at rated 200w 4 ohm. At 2 ohm it is about 76% and 1 ohm it is 60%At lower power levels ALL class D amplifier have much lower efficiencyPlease feel free to email me at "[email protected]" with any questionsStephen Mantz
July 21, 200520 yr Thank You very much... simply for pointing out the efficiency scale. I was trying to make that point to Brad just a few days ago. -Nick

Only time I remember talkin' efficiency was in the RF thread, where I wasn't aware that some of the newer RF's showed birthsheet efficiencies lower than 70%.
