i took my box out of the car for a while...

can i put just 100 watts to the rlp 15 and will that be ok? or will i under power it and distort it and blow it up?

its tuned to 28htz by the way in a 3.5 cube box

Underpowering doesn't blow subs, clipping does.

Just be smart with the volume knob. Make sure the amp can handle the impedance of the sub too.

Dont expect it to be loud either.

Clipped signal= bad stuff

Underpowering a woofer is not a problem until you try to get more output by crankin' the whole system up and up. If you feed the driver a clean signal at 100 watts, there won't be anything to worry about... but don't expect teeth shattering bass either! ;)

but if its not a clean 100 watts you could seriously damage your driver!

as soon as you hear anything that sounds 'questionable' turn it down a bit.

100 watts is only a fraction of what that sub can handle. even if you clip the hell out of your amp I doubt you would damage the sub... but I still wouldn't recommend it. Set your gains accordingly.

cool thanks...i think i got it now...

what pisses me off is that i got a dual 4 ohm sub and buying a nice amp like one from parts express (1000 @ 4 ohm, 550 @ 8 ohm) this will not maximise the amp...i'lll only be getting 550 watts from the amp that could be putting out 1000 watts :(

wished i coulda gotten a dual 2 ohm sub...aw wells...tanks anyways guys...

yea but there are lots of amps out there that do max power @ 2 oms!

m'nizzle.....
