I will be running a little over 1000 watts rms, probably around 1200, will there be the need to get an optima yellow top?

once you have a good alt and i would recommend a big 3...a yellow top isnt exactly needed

i ran 4 vr1000's below 1ohm ea, 2 d31 bt's, and a redtop under the hood daily for months w/ the stock 15yr old 90a alt...I could have it on full tilt at a light (w/o anybody around of coarse) and would have absolutely no dimming...

i think ho alts are over-rated, but thats me :finger:

my suggestion would to be performing the big 3 and getting a secondary deep cycle battery..which will end up way below the cost of another alt

what's the big 3?

and just another regular battery that I hook up to my power wire?
