i thought he said 105amps? but also know his listening habits would be good to know

for example if he only pounds it on the freeway lol no h/o just what you got and the big 3 and call it day! but if he slams it all the time and at stop signs and lights!

i recommend the big 3 and a volt meter for starters and put the volt meter on your dash so you can constandly monitor the voltage if you CONSTANDLY dip into 12.8 or less then another battery would be ideal but BUT if you keep over 12.8 secondary battery isn't needed!

in this day and age save money where you can! also what are your listening habbits? slam the music ALL the time? only when cruising on the freeway? while in your drive way with a girl in the back and the car audio at max? lol!

Lol I pretty much max them out 90% of the time and my job requires no freeway :( all highway with stop lights and my stock alternator puts out 105amps which isn't actually terrible for a stock alt. My caps voltage says I dip below 12.8 about 50% of the time now especially listening to young jeezy or lil Wayne lol. But that's w/o the big 3.

i say do the big 3 you got nothing to lose if money is an issue just get the stock alt mabye ask if you can beef it up some new bearings and other sutf like that!

if your cap reads 12.8 50% of the time once you do the big 3 you will be good to go!!

question that alpine is rated at 2ohms...are they strapped? and what are is your total system impedance (resistance)

I have 2 subs and 2 amps. So 1 amp is pushing 1 sub each sub is dual 4ohm so each sub is wired to 2ohm so each amp is doing 1000 watts rms so 2000 in total. To make everything clear lol.

got ya d4 subs wired to a 2ohm load with each amp runing 1 sub at 2ohm, since the amps are rated 1krms at 2ohm!

so therefore being at a higher ohm load shouldn't require as much guts for the electrical of the car to run it!!

this is also kind a why i am going to be runing 2ohm over 1ohm for my next build 4.5krms! it will be less of current draw so less demand!!

also i asked the question b/c i wasn't sure if those amps were able to be strapped together to ahieve a 1ohm load!

105amps might be pushing it on 2krwm.

Yeah I never liked the idea of strapping, if u don't do it right u can kiss your subs goodbye lol. But yeah I forgot 2ohms is easier on the car but would 2 2ohm subs be better than a single 1ohm stable sub doing the same watts rms

with 2krms at 12votls he has current potential of 200amps but being at 2ohm...

but since he slams it full tilt all the time it will most definitly be hammering the stock alt! either get another battery or h/o alt! i say batteyr since they are cheaper!!

but right now he has no alt lol!

i never minded using strapped amps in my setup b/c it elimates the gain matching!

and i don't know very much alpine the alpine amps and there strapping abilites

but i do notice that they are rated at 14.4 volts! lol! i wonder what they can do at 12.8votls??

do you have a clamp meter to see what they are acutally outputting to the sub?

Yeah right now there's no alternator so that's a first lol. Then the big 3!

Good point I don't but I do know someone who does so I guess I will check it out. More than likely it will be 800 watts at 12.8 his alpine does somewhere around there at a very minimum of like 12v

what i was getting at also is that on lower voltage, since most cars can't achieve a constant 14.4volts, you will be running at a lower output which is less power and less current and less deman!

so with the 2ohm load, 800wats~, and the big 3 and a decent battery you may be able to get away with no h/o! maybe a secondary battery though would be ideal for your setup for extra reserves to tap into while at a stop sign

also please get a voltmeter to monitor the voltage of the voltage going into the amp! b/c one day you never know you could feed it 11volt and guess what no more amp lol! or 10volt

keep in mind it would most likey go into protect mode first but some time funny stuff happens at low voltages!

Yeah before i got y new battery my voltage was horrible and I fried my kenwood amps. Both of them lol. That's when I got my alpines and a new battery. But thanks for the advice everyone! It's like 110% clear what I'm gonna do now.

good to hear! and make sure to do some kind a build log showing your setup!! and get that damn big 3 done and a voltmeter to monitor the voltage going into the amp(s) lol!!!
