Posted April 17, 201015 yr Does any one here own a dd9515g that is 2 ohm? f so how do you wire it down to 1 ohm? I know you have to connect both positives and bot negatives. But this thing doesnt say which is positive and which is negative. And the way it connects is weird. Pictures of to wire it down to 1 ohm would be great if anyone has any. It will be powered by a Exile 2400.1 amp BTW. Does anyone know wether or not this amp is any good???
April 17, 201015 yr Put up a pic if possible and the wires are red and black right???? Is there one set of wires or two????
April 18, 201015 yr Author Put up a pic if possible and the wires are red and black right???? Is there one set of wires or two???? The sub comes with 2 sets of wires welded to it. Thats the first time I've seen a sub like this. One pair is red and the other pair is black. Both the reds are fused together and both the blacks are as well. It appears to be at 1 ohm but the guy I bought it from said it is at 2 ohms and the only way to get it to 1 is to send it too DD directly and they will wire it down and charge me $120!! to do so. WTF right? The sub sounds alrite but I know it will hit a lot harder at a 1 ohm load. And sorry, but I don't have a camera to post the pics to show how it looks. Any advice?
April 18, 201015 yr Do you have a multimeter? If so, measure the ohm load of the coils. That will help immensely.
April 18, 201015 yr You can't have a sub that will wire to both 2 ohms and 1 ohm. With the way it's wired now, you either have 2 or 1, and you can't change it to 1 ohm if it's 2. That is unless you sent it into DD, in which case I imagine what the guy was referring to was a recone, where they'd change the coils all together. That's why it costs $120.Get a multimeter and check the resistance of the coils. Only way for anybody to help you.

Yea, I know I'm retarded for not playing around with the amp in this first place. I put it up half way and my rear view mirror fell off lol. This 9515g hits a lot harder then my 2 12' L7's ever did. 2 ohm load or not I'm just gonna leave it how it is. Sorry for waisting everyones time.
April 19, 201015 yr Just be careful, gains low doesn't necessarily mean the sub isn't getting much power. Gain setting is completely dependent on the input voltage from the head unit. If you have 6 volts coming down the RCAs, chances are you need the gain all the way down. I'm not saying you're wrong in turning it up, just take note if the sub is stressing with the higher gain setting.
April 19, 201015 yr I think it was Thumper said that Exile is from the old guys at PG and it's a good amplifier.
