Hey guys I have a question about the Q series woofers: a 12 Q in a ported box or a 15 Q in a sealed box is what I am debating now

given a 2.5 ft box for either one:

1.) which will be louder?

2.) which will play lower?

3.) which will have better SQ for rock?

Ported 12 will be louder.

Lower depends on your definition of low. Ported will be louder from 25 hz and up, sealed below that.

If you want an even frequency response, sealed is a better choice. Ported exaggerates the low end (30-50 hz), which is not where most rock music has notes.

Most rap music doesn't hit below 30 hz right? i listen mostly to rap but my reason for going with an SQ woofer is so i can play rock as well. Will the 12 Q in a ported box sound good enough to play rock?

I have a Q 12 sealed. Went sealed because of space requirements.

If I had room, you can bet it would be in 2-2.5 cuft ported, tuned to 32 Hz!
