Posted May 2, 201015 yr SSA family I need your help. My family is getting to big for my small car ( Acura cl ). I want to buy a used SUV but I know very little about them. I can only spend $6500.00 tops and it must be a 2000 or newer. I will need 4 doors and it must have a V6 or V8 engine. I will use it mostly on the weekend to take the kids around town. My two youngest kids are 12 and 14 years old and have long legs so no small SUV's like a Tracker. So I need a dependable, afforddable SUV for $6500.00 or less 2000 or newer. I hope this is clear and eazy to understand NO TIME FOR WISE ASS REPLY'S Thanks.
May 2, 201015 yr I like my Explorer. But it's a '98. But if you have growing kids that are already teenagers, you'll probably need a full-size. My dad has an Expedition that's pretty nice. I fit fine in the middle seats and I'm 6'3".
May 2, 201015 yr I have an 03 Explorer and it has been great. V8 and enough leg room in the back for most people. I also have the 3rd row seat. Another option might be a 4runner, but they were running more expensive than my explorer when i was looking last. Just try a search on Autotrader, and look under the suv section and see what is pulls up! GL with it!PS looked it up for you!!! Check the link Autotrader search results!

May 5, 201015 yr Do not buy a chevy blazer or gmc jimmy. Trust me they are way more trouble than you want to deal with. I've owned 2 now and I've had thousands of dollars in repairs on both. If you are goin to go with gm go with a tahoe/yukon. Like someone said the 5.3 is bulletproof. Or the ford explorer is real nice aswell. You dnt see many broke down.
May 5, 201015 yr The main thing with Explorers is that once in a while they'll have transmission problems. If you test drive one, make sure it shifts correctly, run it through the gammut. But I think the newer ones, (maybe 2003 and up?) Ford changed the transmission and they are better now. I've never had any problems with mine though.
