May 10, 201015 yr The leads do look a bit long, and even with pads you can still hear the slap at times. Andrew

Andrewi know that ....a buddy here has a XXX 15 .....yp u can hear the leads slap ...but not so much and he has 3kW + on the sub ...i will look into it today and try to set the leads lower and its goin to go in a ported box ...or i will just have to change the tinsels with softer ones
May 11, 201015 yr so i put the XXX ina buddys ported box ....and no slap ...wtf.... Is your friends ported enclosure the exact same size and tuning frequency? The simple answer for the difference would be that his enclosure, with it's enclosure volume and tuning frequency, is controlling excursion at given frequencies in such a manor that the driver doesn't excurt enough to cause lead slap.If it is supposed to be the exact same size and tuning frequency as yours, then there is something different with your enclosure that is allowing the driver to have more excursion which is causing the slap.EDIT: Missed that your enclosure was sealed. In which case, your friends ported enclosure is limiting excursion around the tuning frequency whereas your sealed enclosure is not (excursion is necessary for output in a sealed enclosure). That is likely the reason why there was no lead slap in your friend's enclosure.....it doesn't have as much excursion at the frequencies where the slap is occurring.
May 11, 201015 yr That looks like some sort of laminate over particle board wood.... If so, cut it up and burn it and rebuild with MDF.
May 12, 201015 yr Author yp it is a particle board 25mm (over 1") ...and a lot of screws and glue ....and in the sealed box there was not so much excursion (it was kinda small for a XXX) as in the ported one ....but there is one more thing ...in the ported box the sub is up ...in the sealed there is sideways ....a buddys XXX 15 is sideways and there is also slap shit ..but not so noticeable

Get rid of that particle board crap and use some mdf.
