I have a numbnuts salesman, that seems to believe that Blaupunkt is, well, the tits.

What do you guys think of Blaupunkt, what brand are comparable and why. Just curious :P

Id say its decient. Nothing I would buy again but its not THAT bad.

What makes them decent then Elias? Pricing? Materials? Performance?

I noticed one of their lines of components list the frequency response with a flatness of -10dB. Am I off-base thinking that is rather sad?

The only 2 things i have ever bought from blaunkpunt was a head unit and a pair of 6x9s back in high school. They were decent, Never had a problem with them. The head unit didnt have a lot of features if I remember, but it was good, had enough features and never failed on me, and the 6x9s were pretty loud and sounded ok. So I cant really say anything bad about them.

I have a BPV 777 ( i think)

Its a low end model from blaupunkt, its not the greatest quality, but its certinaly not stuff you would find at a local auto parts shop selling H/U's.

Its not a company i would want to purchase anything from. The specs arent all that great, nor is the styling. But there is definetly worse out there.

i concur. back in the day blaupunkt was actually pretty highend, but they haven't appeared to keep up in the performance/options/technology/appearance race. they have drifted towards budget oriented systems and for that, they are decent.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

I hate em, they're styling (especially HU's) SUCK. I have a pair of the 3-way 5x7's...from my first venture into car audio (read as "mistake" ;) ). They're low-line tho...just chitty build quality.

they are ok,

they used to come FREE with every porsche 911

Call Crutchfield and ask their opinion of them. The only complaint I have about the HUs I've owned in the past is they have a cheap feel to them. I've had great success witheverything else they have. In fact, I just got rid of my last Velocity amp a couple weeks ago. It was one of the original ones with the HUSH circuitry.
