So lastnight I installed a digital volt meter in my dash, and today I noticed that when starting the car it reads around 14.5v, when not running it reads around 12.8v...However driving around a bit I see my voltage drop down to around 12.8v, not staying at 14.5v, even if I'm not pushing my subwoofers...

Is this normal? I assume it has something to do with the alternator?

check for belt slipping, or ur alt and or batt might b bad.

It's a new battery so I doubt it's that.

Did you calibrate the volt meter

I measured the volts at the wires before hooking it up, then I hooked it up and it read the same voltage. I assume that it's accurate?

Thats pretty accurate did you get the power wire from your amp?

I ran 3 wires from the back of my amp, 1 for positive, 1 for ground, and one for remote..going into the dash connected to the unit.

check your + post.. make sure your tighted it well after adding your amp lead.

the second question would be.. is it 12.8 at a redlight? with it in drive and your foot on the break?

or is it 12.8 as your driving down the road or hwy?
