Posted June 19, 201015 yr I am getting my new FI Q 12" on Tuesday and want to have everything set up and ready to go when it comes so I can hook it up and go without fiddling with settings on amp or cd player. I need to tune my amp and will not take it to a shop to get charged for something I can do. My question is how to properly tune my amp without an oscilliscope, or hooking my sub up. I want to be able to somewhat tune it with the sub unhooked as I want to properly break the sub in and cannot do that by tuning my amp with the sub hooked up. Once I have the sub broke in, then I will fine tune my amp to the sub w/ it hooked up, but until then how will I have it tuned pretty close w/ hooking my brand new/non-broken in sub up? Everything I read says to hook the sub and and listen for distortion, but like I said I will not do that until I break the sub in completely. Thanks
June 19, 201015 yr How are you going to be able to tell the frequency your setting your amp at or setting the SSF?Do a search and read through the amplifier gain setting topic! Break in imo is just a myth!
June 19, 201015 yr There isn't any break-in, but the more you play it, you may notice it gradually get louder
