Posted July 12, 201015 yr I have been looking at the 15" FI Q for a while now and was wondering if there were any others out that i should consider. As far as an amp I was looking at the Sundown Audio SAZ-1000D. It will be going into a toyota tundra with the access cab. I will be taking the back seat out. Also I have stock electrical, would i need to do anything with it? Edited July 12, 201015 yr by bcst86
July 12, 201015 yr Take a look at the ssa store ; they have great packages with the Icon ! But what are you looking for ? Insane bass?! Perfect Accuracy? ...What do you listen to?You seem to have enough room for the right box. Do the big 3 in 0 ga, buy a voltmeter to put in the cabin. Then you will know if you need more electrical upgrades.
July 13, 201015 yr So you are plnning on removing the backseat altogether, or you want to fit them under the seat? A buddy of mine had a Tundra, and the most he could get in there were a pair of IDQ10sAlso, what are the goals? Are you dead set on the amp? I generally recommend selecting the subs first, then buying the amp to power them.
July 13, 201015 yr I am going to take a wild guess and say anyone willing to pull out their backseat and install a 15" sub is not looking for accuracy and just wants to beat the block while sounding good. You should be ok with stock electrical with just 1000w, but if not add a secondary battery.
July 13, 201015 yr Author I am looking for something that will sound good and get loud. It doesnt have to be an all out SQ sub but i dont want something thats going to sound crappy and just be loud. And I will be taking the back seat out. It doesnt get much use anyways. as fas as the amp im not set on the Sundown Audio SAZ-1000Dinsane bass with good SQ. Edited July 13, 201015 yr by bcst86
July 13, 201015 yr What is your budget for the sub? There are plenty of nice subs that will do what you want in the SSA store.
July 13, 201015 yr Icon - flat, loud, and accurateQ - see aboveBL - loud and peaky in the sweet spot, may be more your style.
July 13, 201015 yr Some other options if your going all out and taking the seat out .... Sundown SA-15, Incriminator Audio LI-15, Fi SSD-15, SSA ICONAlso I would recommend doing the "Big 3" in 1/0 and run 1/0 wire right in the beginning since you most likely will upgrade later
July 13, 201015 yr Author hmmm. man lots of choices i wish i have heard some of these in person.how do you like your IA DR 98GMC? Edited July 13, 201015 yr by bcst86
July 13, 201015 yr hmmm. man lots of choices i wish i have heard some of these in person.how do you like your IA DR 98GMC?It's a beast! Very loud and musical. I traded my pair of LI 15" for the DR 18" and couldn't be happier.
July 13, 201015 yr Author I almost got a pair of IA LI 12's a couple years ago but never did. now im back and cant decide what to get. Which would sound better in a ported box
July 13, 201015 yr agreed w sir lancelot- the bl's are a very popular sub for the people in between sq and spl... seems to be right up your alley
July 13, 201015 yr is there a big SQ difference between the Q and BL?Since the "Q" is designed for a flatter response across the sub bass frequencies I would say yes!
July 13, 201015 yr has anyone heard some of the 15's mentioned? anyone better than the other?Of all the brands carried on SSA it will be like tossing a coin. All great companies with great products and great customer service.
July 13, 201015 yr Author im stuck between a fully loaded bl or q and the SSA Icon since they have the package deal on here. and now that ive seen the IA DR im really unsure which to choose from
July 13, 201015 yr What is your budget? That may weed out some of the choices. And I cannot believe I am doing this, but as ///M5 would say , stop using SQ. You are wanting a clean sound. I think you want the BL.
July 13, 201015 yr Author looking around 350ish for sub....and yea clean sound. not something that only gets loud and sounds like a** Edited July 13, 201015 yr by bcst86
July 13, 201015 yr You will not be dissapointed by either the DR or BL.Both can get loud and still remain musical. All install dependent of course.
