Posted July 21, 201015 yr ok this might be my final design. I used re calc to get the port length and used the other calc to give me my final specs including displacement.
July 21, 201015 yr Author Like does it look like a good box lol. Like the port area and do I need to have bracing. The subs I'm going to be using in this enclosure is two custom 12" subs with DC level 5 soft parts.I just want it to be a loud daily driver would the 32hz tuning be good?
July 21, 201015 yr Author that's the thing tho. my box dimensions are maxed out right now. and barely got enough volume in the box. I'm wondering if it will hold up well anyway. I could just put a couple of wooden dowels in there too. Take up some more space tho.
July 21, 201015 yr double baffle it for sure. if u dunno wut that means, it means double up the front where the subs mount. this adds alot makes it more sturdy. also make sure u use tightbond or a similar wood glue and a gang of screws. predrill the holes first. it should hold up and do pretty good.32hz is good depending on ur music choice. i have a single 15 in about the same size box tuned at 33ish hz and i listen to mostly rap/hiphop and it sounds good. country, rock, and other genres sound good too. i was told first to tune at 30 for the lows n didnt like it cause it was all lows and higher notes sounded nasty. then was told 40hz cause i listen to mostly rap didnt like it cause it didnt get low enough. so then i used my subs recommended tuning freq. of 33hz and it has a good freq. range.also u might try sealed. more freq. range. and ur subs should still get loud.how much power u running?also the box is a key piece of the puzzle to the outcome of the setup. unless u get a box builder to hook it up u will probably end up trying several configs
July 21, 201015 yr Author Yea I listen to rap/hiphop and some rock/metal stuff.I'm running about 4-4600watts rms to the two 12's.I built many boxes before and had them tuned low and high. Never tried a double baffle tho. I know what it is. I should be able to cut the holes easy right with a jigsaw? Like when there both glued together. But I may put a little bracing in the box like a couple of wooden dowels. So that should raise the tuning a bit.
