Ok guys, I need help deciding if I should get either an eclipse TI 12" or a crystal cmpx2(if I can even find one). Both will be sealed, probably be running off and orion 1200D, and inside a reg cab truck.

opinions plz. :bigok:

why only those two choices?

of those two, the crystal would be my choice.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

How you gonna fit them in the truck?

You really only have 6-6.5" of depth to put them behind the seat.

More if you were to make a console.

I'm not putting them behind the seat. I took out my center seat, so I have a lot more room. I can fit somewhere around 2^3 's net but I dont' think I'll need that much.

why those two choices? Well the TI b/c I can get it for a fair price. The crystal b/c it was compared to the TI in car audio mag issue a really really long time ago and I read the review again last night.

I know there are a lot of other options, new mag, RLP's, Type - R > world, etc etc. I'd really like to keep the TI as a high option just b/c I can get a good price for it. If you must suggest others, do so ;P. Remember this is being matched with Active setup, and as said above will be ran off of an orion 1200D. see sig for stuff I'm gonna be running with the sub.

I'm not putting them behind the seat.

personally, i dislike the Ti's..

1) while every install i've heard with them was loud, the majority sounded like ass.

2) two people i know who run them have blown them on several occasions. one guy is on his third set of 15" while the other guy is on his second set of 12's. both in properly designed enclosures (i designed and built the box for the 12's, it actually beat me in the last comp i was in), both setups powered by a pair of memphis 1500d's.

but that's just what i've seen by them. personally, i would go crystal. or mag. or rl-s.

then again, u might very well buy one and never, ever have an issue with it. but i still wanted to throw my two centz in, :lol2:

I love both subs, but personally I think the CMPX2 is the winner

they are only going to see about 750 watts or so. I'm not really sure how much space the TI will need, I'll have to do some research on it. I'm buying it tonight most def b/c I can't find the cmpx. I must also bid on the EQT's tonight as well, must have EQTS?1@#@!!@#

oh snap, they sell these on sounddomain. wtf......?

edit: wait nm they don't, I guess those are old links......

  • Admin

did you look at the powerbass XS? it will give Ti CMPX2 level of perfomance for probably less

  • Author

after all ready finding reviews of the powerbass 1 n 5 being returned, I think I'll stay away from those. I'm about to read a review though from guys over at sounddomain. Thanks for the suggestion though denim =P

here's a pretty good review so far of the subs you mentioned denim. Sounds like they are nice speakers, just had me worried about people saying they easily break....

http://forum.sounddomain.com/forum/ultimat...c&f=11&t=070908

guy on there says the PBX's can be had for 240 a piece. That's 50$ cheaper then what I will pay for the Ti. Not to shabby I suppose.

the XS have been putting up great numbers this year from competitors and a few guys on here mentioned brahma level SQ,

Trixter wrote a great review on them a while back,
