Posted August 12, 201015 yr 2 10" SSD's off of 1200 watts, any benefit to adding BP power to them besides that i could add more power later?would it make the subs to stiff?would they not be as loud?would the add'ed cooling and spider make the sub's last longer?thank you for your time and, i hit 142.* with my 15" Q in a 2.8 cuft aero port box. it makes me happy wile sounding great. *bad white boy dance*
August 12, 201015 yr I just finished adding a new option for the SSD and Q series subs. This new option adds a machined aluminum compression plug to the pole which helps channel all of the air under the dustcap around the coil for better cooling. To aid with this increased airflow we also add 6 axial cooling channels in the top plate. Along with increased thermal capacity comes the addition of an extra spider and a changed spider pack for a little extra mechanical ability. All of these new features increase power handling from 200-500 Watts depending on the application. Its just another way of tuning and tailoring your subs to your exact needs.For those interested in a retrofit... we can only add the aluminum compression plug to the pole during a recone. We can not add the 6 axial cooling channels to an already assembled and magnetized motor. The addition of the aluminum piece will aid in cooling, but at about a 25 - 35% reduction vs having both the plug and cooling channels. The retrofit and plug is $25.Thanks...Scott
August 12, 201015 yr Author 600 watts a sub you honestly don't need it.Standard SSD's are fine for you.how much would a re cone be if she wanted to move to more power later?
August 12, 201015 yr Honestly you can't recone it and make it handle more power thermally. That's where the machine work comes in with the BP power option...If you stick around 800 or so watts per sub you'll never have an issue so long as you don't get knob happy
August 12, 201015 yr Author its going in my girls car, she can get knob happy, i was more wondering if the BP changed the way the sub sounds or any thing like that. this is going to be more of a SQ setup just on the cheep, but thank you for making the copper coil starndered.
August 12, 201015 yr Just leave it with a standard one honestly. Set the amp up and tell her not to turn the volume past where ever you set it up for.The BP doesn't change the "SQ" of it..the spider setup is the same on those.
