Well, Today I take possession of my new car: :D :D :D :D

2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Now I need to plan my system and decide what hardware to use etc.

I have **lots to choose from** of course.

I may reconsider the HU choice as I might sell my RFX-8250

Good, now you can finally put some of that gear to use.

Nice car, glad you got a two door. You just don't see alot of them. I'm more than likely going to pick up a 2door gtp this spring :)

Will miss the folding seats in the monte though :(

Well, I do have a system in the work van after all.

Work Van:

1997 Chevy Astro Cargo van

Sony CDX-F7715X CD/Mp3 HU w burr brown

Nakamichi PA-2004 Amp (4x 100Wrms) running (2x100W + 1x400W)

1x 10" Cadance Beast in a sealed downfiring box as a center console

Aura MR 6.2 in the front doors

(I took the Omnifi out already since the Sony handles mp3 discs quite well.)

The car just got delivered... More beautiful than I remember it.

I've been meaning to ask you how you like the F7715X.  Seems like a nice unit.

I own one of these decks installed in my work van.

-display, Looks ok, a bit cheezy and difficult to see during the day light from some angles.

-Apperance, I like the general looks of the Black unit, I think it comes in silver aswell)

-Mp3 playback, I found this to be quite good and pretty swift at switching and navigating.

-7 band EQ is nothing special (I didn't think)

-X-over is lame (not configurable)

-Aux inputs work well (with my Omnifi)

-3 sets of preouts are nice at this price point

-Layout is not very user fiendly.

-Volume knob when pushed switches to adjust Bass level, and it pushes way too easily, for instance when your reaching to adjust the volume while driving.

-Remote definatley is the better way to use it, and HOPE you don't loose it.

-Sound Q seems quite good, but haven't done any A/B comparisons with the same speakers or enviorment (Aura MR6.2 speakers off channels 1&2 of a Nakamichi PA-2004 amp [100Wx4]).

-DSO is quite a bit LAMER than I thought it would be.

-BBE is ok

-Radio tuner seems quite good and fast at searching.

All in all I think the functionality of this HU is pretty good, but the interface and tuning capabilities kinda suck.

This review was done prior to my install being completed:

and I have not really spent more than a few minutes adjusting tuning etc, so take this from a "slap it in and use" it stand point.

I got mine for $290CAD tax included with full warantee from a local shop, and I got a free CD/MP3-Walkman with a mail in rebate.

I dunno if I can wait for the Leviathan, and or Kronos.

That was the plan however.

Might have to try the TRU amps out,

Thanks,

I've taken in for a few small highway trips and a bit around town.

Handles nice and seems to have enough power.

I still love the styling.

I see the picture is down now (the car lot has updated their website).

I'll try to add an attachment here:

Anyone know how easy it is to get larger than the stock 5.25" speakers in the doors (stock locations)?
