Posted September 18, 201014 yr Just got a Fluke 87 ture rms multimeter My linkI don't know if it is accurate or what but i read the owners manual and am mind boggled. how do I tell the voltage readout on this thing? It says ac voltage=2.5 but i know thats not right. any ideas??ThanksMatt Cusack
September 18, 201014 yr for starters what are you measuring? battery voltage? amp output? but i assume you are measuring the amp output b/c you are in the a/c setting and you are setting your gain...so with this first disconnect the sub then put the dmm into those terminals and play a 50-60hz tone and turn your h/u 75% of the way up and this is for the sub stage i am talking about
September 18, 201014 yr Author I'm trying to measure the voltage on my amp so i can adjust my stinger voltage meter
September 18, 201014 yr o in that case put the fluke on DC the --- not the ~ symbol and touch the positive and negative terminals on the amp, where you plug the wires into to give the amp power! remember the amp TAKES DC voltage and outputs A/C voltage
September 20, 201014 yr not a thread high jack... but...I want to setup my JL Audio amplifier so I can get the correct gain setting...What do I select on my DMM? Thanks

September 20, 201014 yr So I tried last night and again this morning .... Only thing that happened was this threw my amplifier into "low impedance" mode ... I didn't get any real readings at all...

The red cord actually goes into the right port. A is for Amps, V ohm etc is what you want for voltage.edit: Whoops, your left, not the pictures left lol. Disregard this if you put it in the right one. Edited September 20, 201014 yr by ulrisa
