Posted September 23, 201014 yr I have a JL 500/5 which is 100 rms ch 1 & 2 and 25 rms ch 3 & 4 I am thinking of using it to run my bravox cs60cf active. My biggest question is what should i do about the rear should i amplify the rear speakers (bravox cx60cf) or run them off the deck. The reason I ask is because I also have a JL e4300 4 channel amp. I have heard some people say dont amp the rears and some say you should amp them and i don't know what to do yet any help would be cool.
September 23, 201014 yr Admin Many of us don't even have rear speakers. If you need rear fill, you don't have to amplify them, but you can if you need it.
September 23, 201014 yr Author I'm going to have 2 Re XXX 18's in the rear of my suv for subs and I wanted to have some rear fill for the people in the back since I always get complaints about not hearing the speakers in the back. Also I have some headrest monitors for people in the back and want them to have decent sound. Didn't know if that could be achieved with just a front stage but I learn something everyday. September 23, 201014 yr I would upgrade and amp the rears if people are in the back a lot. Might be ok with with 25rms on the backs cause the fronts will be pretty loud. But when you have 2 18's beating your head in 2 feet away I'm not sure if 25 rms would be enough. I ran 2 RE XXX 18's in a 2 door SUV and it was stupid loud. No rear fills at all and from the back seat most music was unheard during heavy bass hits. I was also firing up and porting back and the subs were about 6" from the back of your head. How much power will the XXX be seeing?
September 23, 201014 yr Author They will be on a saz3000d at 1 ohm with beefy electrical in my escalade pretty much same as what you said, subs up port back in probably between 12 or 15 cubes before displacement at 30hz. Also do you think it is stupid to hook up a third amp to my rears? I also have a jl e4300 laying around which would let me run the front active off the 500/5 and the e4300 bridged on the rears. Is this too many amps for a 275 amp mechman alt? Edited September 23, 201014 yr by puffin
