Posted October 11, 201014 yr well here's the deal. I've been into music production and recording engineering for a few years now. I've just recently got the idea to incorporate these skills into my car audio hobby. I'm posting a song below which I produced myself that peaks around 43-48 hz. I know it's not quite as low as most of you like to pound to, but hey it's my first attempt at making one of these. I'd like to get some feedback from you guys as to what you think I should do as far as going about making these tracks. I'd love to continue making them for the fellow members to use in their demo's/videos. If you guys could check out the song, download it and try it out and leave some feedback and/or videos, I'd GREATLY appreciate it. I really wanna get into this and incorporating my music skills with this field of interest. Thanks guys!! Here's the link. EDIT: CDP stands for Cellar Door Productions, my little production company. And yes, those are my vocals. Edited October 11, 201014 yr by Shag
October 11, 201014 yr actually sounded clear and crisp.. and you are most def right... LOWER is BETTER... but it was good and Looooooongg!
October 11, 201014 yr Author actually sounded clear and crisp.. and you are most def right... LOWER is BETTER... but it was good and Looooooongg! Thanks man! I will def. be using lower frequencies in my future bass songs. I'll probably even make a few SQ songs to work with too with Acoustic guitar/piano/drums and vocals etc. I'm using a Neumann TLM 103 for my main instrument vocal/instrument mic right now, and it sounds NICE
October 11, 201014 yr Bump for feedbackDownloaded it just now and listened to it on my headphones. Sounds good enough for me to burn to a CD and try it out in my truck later. Also, my setup peaks around 43hz so thanks for not going low with it.
October 11, 201014 yr Nice to see another writer on the the forum! Personally, the song wasn't complex enough for me to be a song that long. The complexity of each part was great, but there just wasn't enough different parts. It sounds like pretty much a verse, chorus, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, ect song. The song just doesn't vary enough for me to keep interested for that long. At halfway i was begging for a break but it was just more chorus and more verse! But the stuff you have is good, i like it, but i think in order for the song to be complete, it needs more. What's your experience with music? What software are you using? I would have liked a more interesting bass-line but that's just me. I think what you have here is a great IDEA for a song. A great start to develop a full length song. overall i did enjoy the song, untill around the 2:00 minute marking.
October 11, 201014 yr Author Haha! I feel you man. Yeah it's just a copyAnd pasted loop of chorus/verse. It started out as a legit song, but I felt like adding a low baseline and seeing what ICould with it in my car, so it never reallyTurned into a full song.. More or less just something to play with bass ya know? My future "songs" will vary more and be more like complete songs and not repetitive loops. As far as music experience, I've been writing and learning since 7th grade. I'm currently a senior in high school, plan on going to MTSU and majoring in recording industry, and minor in music production. Softwares I use are: ProTools Le8, Reason 4, and Cubase. 90% of my work is done in PT, I use reason mainly for sample based stuff, and cubase just for quick audio tests pretty much. Plus countless other small programs that aren't worth mentioning. Thanks for your interest
October 11, 201014 yr My Logitech Z-5500 seem to get to work when trying to play this song, that means the car will definitely bump this! Thanks for the track
October 11, 201014 yr thanks for sharing your stuff, it is very clean sounding, gonna bump it today see how it sounds in the car.
October 11, 201014 yr I like it, needs some extra low stuff on the next one possibly? A peak at 30 would knock heads
October 11, 201014 yr Author I'll be sure to do some with different peaks. Mostly lower (30-37hz). Just keep on the lookout for my posts
October 11, 201014 yr I agree with frostedflakejake, song is like a 20second loop But it does sound good If I have time I'll make a video
October 11, 201014 yr That's awesome man! I wish i kept some of the stuff i made in highschool... (just last year). Keep up the good work bro!
October 11, 201014 yr Author Thanks for the feedback guys! Much appreciated. I'd love to see it played in your guys setups
October 13, 201014 yr Seems good for street beating.. though I fully agree, lower = better. I've got an IDQ10 under my desk though and it was enjoying the base line
