Posted October 16, 200519 yr *Disclaimer* I suck at writing reviews. *Disclaimer*I threw the D2's in my car today. They are in the same box that I used for my kappa perfects.5 cubes net, 70 square inches of port tuned to 28 hz. Total volume 7.3 cu. ft.I am running them at 300 RMS each from my KX650.4 (mid amp)LOUDNESSI've been without subs for probably 5-6 months. But since then I've had the pleasure of listening to ALOT of loud systems. 18 XXX, 15" Brahma Extreme, 15" MT are the most notable, as I spent the most time listening to them. That being said... as it is currently, I don't find this setup to be that loud. But it must be taken into consideration that I'm not running these anywhere near the drivers' RMS. Also it should be noted that they are in a trunk. If I hadn't gotten so used to Noah's systems and was going directly from the Kappa Perfects to these, I probably wouldn't think it was as quiet as I do, but again, all things considered it's pretty loud for what it is.LOW ENDThey have PLENTYOn some songs it seems like it's about on par with the Kappas, then the heavy low bass kicks in and I'm reminded why I bought these subs... My side mirror never shook like this with the kappas... ever. There is no doubt in my mind that these things kill the Kappas in LFE.PUNCHY BASSThere is simply no comparison between these and the Kappas in the punch catagory. These things completely annihilate the kappas in higher frequency reproduction in a box that doesn't exactly facilitate higher frequencies.It's... just... a whole lot better.TRANSIENT RESPONSEOnce again, no comparison. The D2s sound much cleaner going from low to high, high to low, MUCH LESS SLOPPY. They keep up with double kick drums flawlessly. Symphony in Peril sounds immaculate.FINAL WORDS AND THOUGHTSAlthough I don't consider this setup 'loud', it's way underpowered, and it is in a trunk. What have I learned?I CANNOT WAIT TO GET DOWN TO CINCI TO THROW MORE POWER ON THEM.It's loud, but it will get alot louder. And I'm not going to sleep right until I get more power on them.I can say in all honesty that the SQ of this driver, for me, leaves nothing to be desired. I just wish I could run these with my mids.Nick, thank you for producing such a capable driver. :dancingsmilie: :musik05:
October 16, 200519 yr Not a problem man. You know they can be loud...you heard them with approx. 900 each in my car. Speaking of which, it was you that was in the car when I bottomed them out wasn't it? Heheh, and mine are sealed. Of course, they're in a hatch too...which helps a lot. Anyway, put more power on those puppies and then get back to the board. Also, post on other forums.
October 16, 200519 yr Author I just listened to them for about another hour...They are with out a doubt MUCH LOUDER THAN MY IKPs!!!They arn't capable of hurting my ears, but I really wouldn't expect them to on this power. It definately FILLS the cabin with bass, and in a Caprice, that's not always easy with 2 12's and 300 watts.Nick, it's killing me not to be able to listen to these with the mids.... it's just KILLIN ME!
October 16, 200519 yr Then buy my PPI and run that on your mids. You'll need it in that boat that you call a car. I ran around town today with Black Eyed Pees cranked today and had to turn it down a few times. Some songs on their newest album are just nuts. And I have yet to come across anyone with a system since I've had mine installed. I can't wait for the day that I'm lightly listening and have some kid with two P5's/TypeR's roll up next to me. It'll be a glorious defeat!
October 16, 200519 yr P5's get loud, however the SQ is just completly gone....You need more power Jason
October 16, 200519 yr In th near future (like next weekend)... they'll have an IA 20.1 on them @.5ohms Jason's mags + Dave's 20.1 + My truck = MAD WANGAGE...Gotta throw my truck in there b/c neither of them have the electrical stability, the wiring, or just plain COOLNESS of the POS Dakota NGPS: Can't wait!

Some do get loudr because they have more than 1 sub and its ported and when i tell them its one 12 sealed, they ask if its a W7....i tell them no and point to the sticker on the window.

October 17, 200519 yr Author hey wat songs did u use to test these mags out with?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>all of them...Grippin the grain, LNT, Symphony in Peril (entire "The Whore's Trophy" album), Shelf in the room, The cream of clapton, Various Sublime tunes, some Chevelle.... Misfits (Not really a whole lot going on that low). APC, Hatebreed..... the list goes on and on....
October 19, 200519 yr Author So, I was listening to some of the music off of ROE and... Some of it got down in the 20s on a regular basis.... and my car sounds like it's falling apart.... stuff shakes in the froont, stuff shakes in the back, the grille sounds like it's trying to get off the hood.Goood times.
October 19, 200519 yr Author Ok, so here's the deal...DISREGARD THE ENTIRE REVIEW.I got a new DMM, my old one wasn't reading right. I checked to see what the amp was set at before and it was right around 20 volts... about 100watts...I re-set the gains with a 0db 40 hz tone... to 34.6V... 300 watts each. All I have to say is, PUCK THOSE INFINITIES! These D2s are SO loud and still SO clean.... IDK, I think I might have pooped a little when I played "Bass I love you".These things are in fact retarded, I could feel the bass in my kidneys... I'm in a HUGE car with a trunk and they were still punching me in the back.... I've never had that to this degree in my car before...300 WATTS EACH! I'm simply amazed, even though I knew they could do it, I'm still amazed!Nick, I'm gonna buy you a pizza.
October 19, 200519 yr I wish I could afford one or 2 blending nicely with your extremii? what's everything xover'd at?
October 19, 200519 yr First you get the moofahThen you get the powahThen you get the ladiesPictarios?
October 19, 200519 yr See, that's what I was expecting the first time. I had a feeling something was off, but you do drive a boat so that could have been it also. I got your voicemail at work, and thanks for leaving the message. I had a chitty day at work today and needed something like that so I wouldn't go postal. Now post on SIN where that guy said "they're inefficient at hell."

I'll be putting the added review part to SIN, don't worry, that guy has no idea what he's talking about.
October 20, 200519 yr Author All I have to say is:Papa Smurf's Dimension from ROE, 54 seconds in.... yeah that part...WAAAAYYYYY below tuning, 300 watts each and they didn't bottom out... (I don't have a SSF on that amp.)
