Posted October 23, 201014 yr I have a pretty basic question. I am looking to upgrade the amps I have to Sundown amps. I need to know if the current wiring will be enough and if not what I need to upgrade. I am having a authorized dealer install these so I just need to know what I need to tell them.I have the following gear:Car: 2001 Jetta GL 2.0liter 4 cylinderHeadunit: Kenwood KDC-MP438U (3 sets pre-outs)Fronts: Polk Audio db6501 component speaker (max of 125 watts continuous), door mountedRear: Polk Audio db6501 component speaker (max of 125 watts continuous), door mountedSub: 10" Treo TE dual 4 ohm sub (500 watt max), mounted in a Ported ProBoxWiring: 4 gauge Memphis 2 amp wiring kitI am looking to add a Sundown SAX-1200D and a SAX-100.4D. Will my current wiring handle the new amps?
October 23, 201014 yr I would recommend upgrading from the 4ga to a 1/0 wire to feed the amps, and you did not mention doing the Big 3 to enhance your electrical. Get enough wire and do the Big 3 in 1/0 as well. This will help your voltage to the amps. Good Luck!!

October 25, 201014 yr I would also try to add a small battery in the rear. Maybe a Kinetik HC800.And by the way, I LOVE you user name. The Enders series is phenomenal!!!

The Enders series is phenomenal!!!One of my favorite series... besides Lord of the Rings, & a couple other series I like .Planning on re-wiring from 4 gauge to 0/1 gauge and perhaps the big 3, not sure on that. Going to inquire with a VW dealer as to how much for a high performance alternator, since currently I am having dimming issues when my bass hits as it is and I am adding about 2x the power w/ the new amps..
October 27, 201014 yr Would 2 gauge work or does it have to be 0/1 gauge?yeah that will work but just use 1/0 in case if you ever upgrade more power so you dont have to go back and replace it

I can run all 4 channels of my speakers from the amp and up to 2 subs. I wont need more (I hope ).Although I found a great deal on 0/1 gauge wire on Amazon I would probably want to use a different fuse since it looks cheap, but for 44 bucks I think I can afford it.......anyone have any thoughts?
