Posted October 26, 201014 yr hey all. i recently upgraded my amp to an audiopipe ap1500d and it bangs..great amp for the price and i recommend them for anyone on a budget. i am running the amp at only about 1/4 gain which is roughly 1000 rms or a little more i believe. it is powering an ssa icon 12'' and is running at 1 ohm with one run of 1/0 and upgraded battery to chassis ground (1 of the big 3). my question is everything ok here? i know my electrical is lacking (external batt. and what not) but im away at college at the moment and have to drive home any time i want to do upgrades because my resources are limited here. i just want to make sure my amp is not being stressed and i am not hurting anything...i have minimal light dimming and the stock voltage meter moves only a little bit after playing it loud for a couple minutes. thanks!
October 26, 201014 yr Get a lcd volt meter and check your voltage at full tilt, other then that and possibly adding another battery you should be good
October 26, 201014 yr Your factory gauge is not going to be accurate, too slow.Check it with a DMM or like Stefan said get a LCD volt meter and monitor it.

October 26, 201014 yr lol gain will vary on your decks pre volts or what number you tuned your system to max on deck. Turning the gain up wont make it put out more rms if your already at max power just clip the chit out of the sub and mess the amp.

I'm sorry, our nonsense definitely doesn't answer your question. Good luck with that. Edited October 26, 201014 yr by xAndrewx

He got his answer already, he needs to see how much voltage is dropping to at the amps terminals.
October 26, 201014 yr Author haha well thanks for the replies guys..and i should say its "around" a 1/4 of the way up. i set the gain with a dmm at 1 ohm and used that smd gain chart to find the voltage for 1000rms. i also used an o scope and it read the same with a clipped signal no where in sight. i purchased a stinger voltage meter and just havent had the time to install it so i will get to it this weekend.
