right now i have a cheap 20 dollar line out converter. As you turn up the volume it doesent get any louder, and i know im not getting the full 1200watts. All my electrical is good, my voltage stays at 13v. Are you guys familiar with the jl audio clean sweep? I dont want to get a headunit. All i want is when i turn up my volume it gets louder and louder, right now if i turn it up it stops getting loud, it stops after a certain point. my volune is 30max and when i put it to 16 it doesent get louder???

I have a 15btl and a sundown sax 2500d on order.

when installed one of these in my buddies bmw our issue was with the little T-TAPS things used they weren't biting into the wire very much so we jsut squeezed them with a pair of pliers and BAM just like that fixed!

so if you used t-taps give them an extra squeeze.

other then that turning up the volume on the h/u doesn't yield any more sub volume doesn't make sense check your deck settings look for something that can limit your sub outs. or maybe you are clipping the amp some?

what are your settings on the amp? and what ohm load? also where is yrou gain set like 1/4 the way up 1/2 the way up etc... and yes i know this means nothing but it is a point of reference, and when you set your gains how did you do it? o-scope, dmm, ear?

Your situation sound almost identical to mine.

I have a BL 12 fully loaded on a 1200d. I WAS running it off a LOC, and noticed a MAJOR lack of output. And mine was a cheap $20 one too. You get what you pay for.

Basically you're getting crappy signals. A new head unit fixed the problem for me. Now it gets very loud.

Or to test if the signal is the problem, hook up an iPod directly to the RCAs on the amp. Using a aux-RCA plug.

And then just control the volume from the iPod, see if it gets louder.

Sounds like I went through the exact same problem as you. So if you have anymore questions...

Your running into compression somewhere. Either the LOC or the headunit. Nothing wrong with this, just an inherent limitation of the equipment.

This is the primary reason there are gain controls on an amp. Is the gain on the amp all the way up? If not, you need to turn it up more. If it is all the way up, something is wrong because it shouldn't take more than 1/4 volt or so on the input to bring most amps to clipping when set to thier most sensitive level....

I was installing one for my friends car, same problem, it just wasn't getting as loud as expected. I just told him to get an aftermarket headunit with preouts and sure enough, the problem was fixed.
