So the other day I was messin' a but with my audio equipment... I noticed a very distinct buzzing coming from my front stage amp... realizing this could be a number of issues, I've ruled out the wiring already...

I am going to take this time to upgrade my amp from the Kenwood 4ch to a Soundstream 2ch... Was looking into the Sundown 125.2 but for the money the Soundstream has more headroom....

This is the amp...

TRA800.2 :

Soundstream_TRA800.2.gif

Specs are as follows:

* OUTPUT (WATTS):RMS @ 4 Ohms: 200x2

* RMS @ 2 Ohms: 400x2

* RMS Bridged @ 4 Ohms: 800 X 1

* T.H.D.: < 0.02%

* Frequency Response (Hz): 10 - 50k

* SIGNAL TO NOISE RATIO: > 115dB

* DAMPING FACTOR: >500

* INPUT SENSITIVITY: 0.15 - 12.0V

* CROSSOVER SLOPE: 12dB

* CROSSOVER FREQUENCY (HZ): 50 - 5k

* DIMENSIONS (INCHES): 10.75x2.6x21.5

* Variable hi pass, band pass, low pass

* Variable 18dB bass boost

* Double sided glass epoxy SMT circuit board

* PWM mosfet power supply

* Tri-guard amplifier protection

* SMT cooling fan built in

* Tri-mode capable

* Line output

I know there was somebody here running all Soundstream but the Rubicon series... But has anyone had experience with these? Under what conditions? How did they hold up? Any specific usage with this TRA series at all???

Thanks in advanced for all the help fellas...

Might want to upgrade that baby amp first :P haha ;)

I haven't had any time to mess around with that amp personally, but you might be able to find a cheap(er) Sundown amp on db-r.com. Head room is cool, but not when you sacrifice performance, reliability, and efficiency.

Yea, I was hoping you would chime in or somebody would comment on those factors.... I don't really need the 200w but 125w I guess would be the least....

unfortunately db-r doesn't seem to have that amp... and when I did see it, it was like 20 beans less which constitutes just buying new...

Curious though, if I buy the Sundown straight from SSA, what is the ship time???

Oh and the vocals right now are more important to me because even though I am using that baby amp, HOLY SHYT it can pretty much overpower my front stage... I actually have my Pioneer set @ -7 pretty much all the time since I got it and I know the Icon is still nice and stiff... Sooo I don't need :morepower1: on the Icon just yet.... lol

Right I did see that one... But I haven't seen anywhere stating this map can run @ 2oHms bridged... That is my main thing... I want that flexibility of running 2oHms...

sooo you leave me alone Bangin'??

Sorry, i was replying to another post. You're right, that amp can only be 4ohm bridged, oooops lol :P

What is your budget on the amp? This will help a lot :)

I know Alpine has really nice multi-channel amps :) PDX series are sexy (buy off ebay)

You stunk.... The 125.2 does look promising... Did you order all your Sundown equipment from SSA?? How long does it usually take to ship?

  • Author

$250 seemed to be a great mark.... I based that off of the Sundown being $240 and the Soundstream being $250...

Noooo, i ordered my stuff from a dealer because i like cheap prices ;)

Generally PDX amps run that budget on Ebay.

I love my PDX amps when i had them, although i believe they don't have a adjustable subsonic filter on them.. that might be an issue for you.

About usually 1-3 days to receive it from Jacob once shipped, I have received things faster from Jacob then a lot of places I get shipments from. I would say Sundown and KnuKonceptz are some pretty fast shippers.

When I order all my Sundown amps from SSA , I receive them in 5 days ! and I live in the Carribeans. So, it must be even faster for you, Americans !

I'm no American....lolz .. That's great to hear...
