Posted November 30, 201014 yr Hello,I am building a box for a friend and I had my MDF all ready to cut, measured out panels and everything and he calls and tells me that he want an aeroported box. I have searched and read different things in this section and after figuring out slot is actually a lot more different than aero ported, I just don't get it.So, I have come for some box designing help.Dimensions:Depth: 16Height: 16Width: 40It is for an Fi X 12.Was hoping for 2.0ft^3 at 32hzI really just need to know how many flared aeroports I would need with no port noise. Diameter and Length of the aeroport would be nice. Thanks in advanced,Jay
November 30, 201014 yr Go with 1 4" Aero and with length go here ... http://www.psp-inc.com/tools.html Could go with 1 3" as well. Vent mach will be low enough to not be audible. http://www.linearteam.dk/default.aspx?pageid=ventcalculator
November 30, 201014 yr Author Thanks guys. PSP calc said 2 cubic feet. 32 hz. Port diameter: 4. 1 port.Length or flared port would need to be 14.066 inches.Forgot one thing. I am going to buy this 4" flare and 18" tube and cut it to 15". How much discplacement would this take up in a box. Edited November 30, 201014 yr by Hzd Skizzy

Estimate.

Estimate.Heres what I came up with after some more doing and research. The whole aeroport will take up .10 cuft. 3.14x2x2x15/1728=.10xxxxxSo the box's internal volume after wood displacement but before port and sub is 2.24-.10 for sub (fi x 12)-.10 for port=2.04 cuft after all displacements tuned at 32hz.The psp calc for a 2cuft box @ 32hz with a 4" port it would need to be like 14.879 so rounded up to 15''.I think I've done this right.
