alright so about a couple weeks ago i installed an alpine cda 105 unit for my expedition and i realized i have a bit of alternator whine. i grounded all of my wires quite well and even double checked the harness. everything is straight but at one point the whine stopped then came back, im not sure what to do. also, i can hear noise from my headunit menu selection sometimes, for example if i switch the inputs or select certain options it makes a click noise through the sub, is this a ground problem all together, or maybe faulty rcas?

simple advice would be sweet.. thanks, john.

If you're rca's are ran parallel with the power wire that will cause problems. Unless of course it isn't ran that way ;)

Not true ;)

OP: Take the ground from your harness and make your own ground, 99% of the time factory grounds are crap.

I've always heard the same thing as well, is this another myth? I've been running my rca's on the other side of the car from the power wire for years now after reading that, and only cross them at a 90 degree angle if needed.

x2 on the factory grounds though, had the same problem and was fixed by making a new ground.

It used to be true, with modern equipment however it's not an issue.
