I am looking to replace my Fi X 12 with a better all around sub. I know that the Bl is a better spl sub than the Q but i want to retain some sq. So my question is, by how much does the Bl outperform the Q as far as spl goes?

If you are even pondering the two you are a BL buyer. It will sound more than great for your needs. It is NOT a bad sounding sub and will be louder than the Q.

Alright thanks for the help. One more quick question, I have heard that the Fi subs really come alive if you give them a few hundred more watts than their rated rms, so do you think i should give the Bl like 1200-1400 watts? or just stick with the rated 1000 wrms?

If you someone told you they 'come alive' with a couple hundred more rms and you believed them, just stick with the rated rms.

You should worry about the box.

I can tell that the box plays a HUGE part. A box can be perfect for a car, but not for yours.

I have tested different situations in my car and in other ones with. The same subs and boxes. Now I know what to use in my own car.

Get a BL if you want, but don't put it in a bad enclosure.

I already made a deal to sell it with a fosgate amp for about 270 which is a solid deal given what i payed for the two. I still want a Fi Bl but onlinecarstereo is offerring a soundstream splx 122hx for 199. How will the soundstream perform against the Bl?

Just curious, why overlook the Fi SSD?

I thought about the SSD but i did not think that it would be a huge upgrade from the X. Right now, with the X both the spl and sq are alright, but I wanted a significant upgrade. Maybe a comparison between the SSD and the SPLX 122hx would be a more realistic approach. Any thoughts?

I really can't compare to the SPLX because I haven't had any experience with it. After using Type R's, Fi SSD's, Sundown Nightshades, and SA-12's, I gotta say I'm a SSD fan. I'm actually waiting on one to be built and shipped to me as we speak. To be honest though, I doubt you can go wrong with anything Fi. However, if you really want a big difference, I personally would look into more cone area and get two 12"s or a 15" if you can fit it.
