My preference has nothing to do with what subs i want in my car. Lol.

    Find an old beetle, chop the top, put air ride on it. remove rear seat put in 4 12s and put batts and amplfiiers in the front trunk. (Thats what the local shop in my area is working on for an SPL car)

    Get the tdi version. They get killer mpg and its diesel so its not so girly. Lol I still wouldn't drive a bug though unless I was doing at least 155db's.

    Just get a nightshade. You could fit a 18" in there with 3k on it and be plenty loud.

    If it is an older beetle Porsche 911 engine/trans-axel crammed in the rear, drop it to the ground with a long lip spoiler bigger turbo, nice intercooler... THEN worry about the subs...
