I just got a 2003 toyota celica gts and am set on getting a 12" SSA ICON D2. I am going for SQ and dont know whether to get a ported box or sealed. Also, I have heard that facing the sub up is a good idea in a celica because of the shape of the tailgate. Anyway, i need to know info on the box and what amp to get. My budget for the amp is about 150. Thanks for your time in advance.

Here is the link at SSA for the enclosure designs and recommended size for the 12" ICONS: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/index.php/downloads/enclosure-designs/category/12-icon.html

150 is a slim budget for amp power for an ICON, but who knows...

thanks a lot for the link, and im thinking about going with a 12 DCON and getting a better amp. Any suggestions for a 300 dollar amp for the DCON?

Sundown sax125.2 and they're on sale in the SSA store right now.

For a single DCON you could used one of these. The SAX-125 will give you 400 watts at a 4 ohm load which would be great for the DCON, and it won't break the bank. SSA just did a price drop on them, and if you ever upgrade your sub amp it could be used for your front stage.

I should have typed less.

thanks everyone! im going to go with the DCON in a ported box powered by a SAX-125.2 amp

might be the best $330 i ever spend

you could save up a bit more and get the 2 x dcon's (10 or 12 inch) and sax125.2 package deal.
